Afghanistan is a Tier III nation located in Central Asia . It's famous for its extremely high amount of formables and the fact that it is needed for 7 other formables. It borders the countries of Tajikistan, Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, China and Uzbekistan.

Background[]

Afghanistan, also known as the "Graveyard of Empires", has been at the center of much history in Western and Central Asia. Historical powers such as the Mughal, Persian, and Macedonian Empires have all had a significant presence in the region. The Durrani Empire is generally considered the first independent Afghan state.

Until 1973, Afghanistan remained monarchist under the rule of various kings and emirs. Following the coup in 1973, the king was deposed and the Daoud Republic was established by Daoud Khan. Daoud attempted to modernize the country but ultimately failed to so, leading to the disappointment of many Afghans. In 1978, the Soviet-backed People's Democratic Party (PDPA) launched a coup and seized power.

In response to the communist takeover, the Afghan mujahideen were formed as a resistance group against the PDPA's rule. After a particularly violent uprising in Herat, in which a number of Soviet advisors were killed, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The Soviets would remain in the country until 1989, at which the burden of fighting the mujahideen was transferred to the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. The DRA ultimately failed to defeat the mujahideen and collapsed.

In 1996, the Islamic State of Afghanistan was taken over by the Taliban, an Islamic fundamentalist militia. The remains of the ISA formed the Northern Alliance which fought against the Taliban. Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, the United States invaded Afghanistan and deposed the Taliban. As a result, a 20-yearlong insurgency began against the US-backed Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In 2021, after the withdrawal of American troops from the country, the Taliban entered Kabul and retook control over Afghanistan.

Formables[]

Afghanistan can form the following;

Releasables[]

Afghanistan has 2 releasables, consisting of:

Threats[]

Strategy[]

Mughal Empire[]

  • Attack Pakistan after you get military things ready.
  • After that, India will likely want to annex you, since you have 2 nations in the Maurya Empire.
  • Instantly ally with China, they will be able to take down India. If they take it down, ask for cities that they had, or just get them to focus on the troops.
  • If you don't want to/they decline, then stack up artillery, and kill them with it.
  • Then, Invade Bangladesh in order to form Mughal.

Hotak Dynasty[]

The Hotak Dynasty is a relatively easy formable on paper due to you only needing Iran, but in reality it is very difficult due to your target's terrain and Arid climate. It should be not too much struggle if Iran is AI, however it will be a time-consuming process. It would be a wise idea to research faster units in order to make the conquest go by faster.

You'll want artillery to deal with the Iranian home guards in Tehran and Mashhad, along with a good amount of units. Once the home guards are defeated, you'll be home free unless unforeseen circumstances happen while Iran is being invaded (Such as it becoming a player, or an invasion from India, Pakistan, China, or even Russia or a Central Asian nation.)

Durrani Empire[]

Part 1: Preparations[]

So you're trying to form the easiest formable that Afghanistan has. Well First, select all your cities and deploy troops on the field. Then, switch your army doctrine to Massed Attack. You should've justified on Pakistan by now. Train your troops until your justification is ready.

Part 2: Invasion[]

If you did these steps, invade. Head your troops to the only city in-game that's in very mountainous terrain, in Pakistan. Gilgit. Just wait for like 5 minutes and then all the troops coming from Lahore are GONE.

Part 3: Pain and Suffering[]

Capture ALL cities with over 1M population. Simple. Thousands and thousands of casualties each siege. You'll have to go far South into Pakistan in order for the Home Guard in Karachi to move. Entrenchment will help.

Part 4: Even More Pain[]

12M in one city. More than Moscow. Moscow is notoriously hard to capture in normal circumstances. Whatever you do, Do not ever try to capture Karachi as it will be a pain in your troop count. Instead capture all cities and leave Karachi, But in the peace treaty Select Karachi, The AI should accept.

Part 5: EZ Dubs[]

So, still Pakistan would have about 4.3 Million pop. Don't worry, it's very easy. Send 1 Division to the cities near Iran. Send another to Quetta. When that 1 Division is done capturing those cities, send them to Karachi (not the one at Quetta) and then send them to Faisalabad. Make it Auto Capture the rest. Send the other division near the former border of Afghanistan and Pakistan. There would be some small ones. Pakistan should be collapsed now. Congrats!

Part 6: Nobody Expects the Islamic Inquisition![]

After forming Durrani, you can now invade India and other countries because you are relatively strong. India should be pretty easy if it's AI, especially if you make tanks. Once you conquer India, you can invade Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Southeast Asia, and eventually China or head westward and annex the territories you'd need for Islamic Caliphate.
