— Description of forming Ajuran Sultanate |
The Ajuran Sultanate was a formable of Somalia. The capital is Mogadishu. It requires
Somalia,
Djibouti,
Kenya, and
Ethiopia to form.
Background[]
The Ajuran Sultanate was a Somali empire in the medieval times that dominated the Indian Ocean trade. They belonged to the Somali Muslim sultanate that ruled over large parts of the Horn of Africa in the Middle Ages. Through a strong centralized administration and an aggressive military stance towards invaders, the Ajuran Empire successfully resisted an Oromo invasion from the west and a Portuguese incursion from the east during the Gaal Madow and the Ajuran-Portuguese wars. Trading routes dating from the ancient and early medieval periods of Somali maritime enterprise were strengthened or re-established, and foreign trade and commerce in the coastal provinces flourished with ships sailing to and coming from many kingdoms and empires from all over the world.
The empire left an extensive architectural legacy, being one of the major medieval Somali powers engaged in castle and fortress building. Many of the ruined fortifications dotting the landscapes of southern Somalia today are attributed to the Ajuran Sultanate's engineers, including a number of the pillar tomb fields, necropolises and ruined cities built in that era. During the Ajuran period, many regions and people in the southern part of the Horn of Africa
converted to Islam because of the theocratic nature of the government. The royal family, the House of Garen, expanded its territories and established its hegemonic rule through a skillful combination of warfare, trade linkages and alliances.
As an hydraulic empire, the Ajuran monopolized the water resources of the Shebelle and Jubba rivers. Through hydraulic engineering, it also constructed many of the limestone wells and cisterns of the state that are still operative and in use today. The rulers developed new systems for agriculture and taxation, which continued to be used in parts of the Horn of Africa as late as the 19th century. The rule of the later Ajuran rulers caused multiple rebellions to break out in the empire, and at the end of the 17th century, the Ajuran state disintegrated into several successor kingdoms and states, the most prominent being the Geledi Sultanate.
Resources[]
The sultanate produces gold and oil, gaining 4.99 gold units and 2 oil units, every turn.
Geography[]
Terrain[]
The Ethiopian areas are filled with mountains. Central-western and central Ethiopia is Mountainous, while the rest, excluding Ethiopian Somali, is Semi-Mountainous. Meanwhile, southwestern
Kenya is Hilly. The areas not mentioned or excluded are all flat.
Biome[]
The only biome present is the Arid biome, which is present in most of Somalia except the area south of Mogadishu, northeastern and central-eastern
Kenya, and Somali.
Strategy[]
Right when the game loads, justify on Ethiopia and
Kenya. After the justifications are done, justify on
Djibouti. After doing this, industrialize, and build 2-3 electronic factories, and a steel and motor factory. Once built, you should spawn tanks, and once spawned, train them to fight in the Arid biome.
If
Ethiopia Is a Player:[]
- Build artillery.
- Spawn infantry to defend the artillery.
- Once you are ready, declare war.
- Due to your geography and your artillery, the Ethiopian troops would have taken severe losses.
- If they grow too weak to continue the war effort, start the offensive.
If
Ethiopia Isn't a Player:[]
After you conquer your biggest threat, Ethiopia you can conquer the other countries and you're done!
Threats[]
Ethiopia will try to take
Somalia and
Djibouti for its formable, the
Ethiopian Empire.
Egypt may try to form the
Nile Empire, but is uncommon. It may also use its resources and strength to form the
African Union.
South Africa is a strong nation and may sometimes expand past the
South African Union and conquer most or all of Africa
to form the
African Union.
- Just like
South Africa and
Egypt, will likely expand in the continent using their strength.
- The
UK isn't a huge threat but may rarely try to form the
British Empire, which requires
Kenya and
Somalia.
- The
Italian Empire requires
Somalia and
Ethiopia.
- France may try to form the
French Empire, which is rarely attempted, needs Djibouti.
Also, there are nearby countries who do not need the Ajuran Sultanate areas for a specific formable, but they may invade them anyway.
Trivia[]
The Ajuran Sultanate's flag was one of the only nations/formables that wasn't a rectangle, with the others being:
- The
Crown of Aragon

Danish Empire

Grand Duchy of Lithuania
