— Description of forming Al Andalus |
Al Andalus was a formable that could be formed solely by Gibraltar. It borders
Algeria,
Western Sahara, and
France.
The formable, Al Andalus was suggested by THEGOLDENROBLOX12.
Background[]
Al Andalus was the name given to the Iberian Peninsula after it was conquered by the Umayyads.
Since the fall of the Umayyads, a series of wars were fought for the Iberian Peninsula known as Reconquista which lasted for 781 years where it ended with the fall of the Nasrid Sultanate of Granada at the hands of Castille. Alongside the Reconquista were several invasions from Morocco as well as multiple taifas fighting for dominance within the region, at one point, Qurtubah (Cordoba) was the most prosperous city in Europe
behind Constantinople
The fall of Constantinople and Granada marked the beginning of the Renaissance era and the end of the medieval era as Europeans begin searching for spices in the new world which led up to colonialism from them desiring a second way to India.
Economy and Manpower[]
Al Andalus generates an awesome $3,478,584 in total income. It also has a manpower cap of 942.500 and a manpower gain of 4730. Most of the resource income comes from Morocco, but
Spain also contributes to the resource income. It is a wise idea to develop cities so the tax gain and manpower gain can increase.
Strategy[]
Al Andalus can be quite difficult to form. Gibraltar does have a bad start, as it begins as a microstate. Since you cannot invade
Spain immediately you would have to begin by invading
Portugal or
Morocco. To do this, first place your troops in the ocean off the coast of that country to allow you to declare war on them, although if they are a player there is a possibility, they have submarines or aircraft that can easily squash you when you're not looking.
It's unlikely that both Portugal and
Morocco will be both players. If one is a player, and the other isn't, invade the one that isn't a player, as a player will probably be able to easily defeat you. If both
Portugal and
Morocco aren't players,
Portugal is probably the one you want to take first, unless
Spain plans on invading
Portugal.
In any scenario, it's useful to have a good navy, getting oil through trade, as Gibraltar almost behaves like an island microstate. It also can be helpful to have a navy because if you invade
Portugal first, and
Portugal isn't a player, you can take one of the islands that
Portugal owns, which causes
Portugal's home guard to move to take that island. A navy can be placed in between Lisbon and that island so that the home guard will be destroyed by the navy.
After you take Portugal or
Morocco or both, it shouldn't be too hard to take
Spain.
It's also useful to ally some nearby countries that may be willing to help you form Al Andalus. France, the
United Kingdom,
Italy, and other countries all may be willing to make you a deal that helps you form Al Andalus.
Geography[]
Terrain[]
The terrain is Hilly and Mountainous down near Morocco and up near the border between
Spain and
France, and there are spots of hills in
Spain. Otherwise, it's flat.
Biome[]
Al Andalus has an Arid biome in the southern part of Morocco, but the rest has no biome.
Threats[]
As Gibraltar, this formable will be very hard to form, due to the many major powers that are surround you.
Spain and
Portugal doesn't need to conquer you for the
Iberian Union, but will likely do so as
Gibraltar is basically free territory and money.
- The
United Kingdom, though rare, may conquer you for the
British Empire.
Germany,
Morocco, or
France may generally expand into the area.
- If
Algeria or
Tunisia are a player, they might try to annex you if they wish to conquer European lands, though this is a rare case.
- ↑ (City changes name to to Al Andalus after forming as it shares the same name as the country)
