The Bahamas, known officially as the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is a country within the Lucayan Archipelago in the West Indies. It is a member of the Commonwealth Realms under the monarchy of King Charles III of the United Kingdom. The archipelagic state consists of fewer than 700 islands, cays, and islets in the Atlantic Ocean, and is located north of Cuba and Hispaniola Island (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands, southeast of the US state of Florida, and east of the Florida Keys. The capital city is Nassau on the island of New Providence. The Bahamas were inhabited by the Lucayans, a branch of the Arawakan-speaking Taíno people, for many centuries. Columbus was the first European to see the islands, making his first landfall in the 'New World' in 1492. Later, the Spanish shipped the native Lucayans to slavery on Hispaniola, after which the Bahama islands were mostly deserted from 1513 until 1648, when English colonists from Bermuda settled on the island of Eleuthera. The Bahamas became a British crown colony in 1718, when the British clamped down on piracy. After the American Revolutionary War, the Crown resettled thousands of American Loyalists to The Bahamas; they took their slaves with them and established plantations on land grants. African slaves and their descendants constituted the majority of the population from this period on. The slave trade was abolished by the British in 1807; slavery in The Bahamas was abolished in 1834. Subsequently, The Bahamas became a haven for freed African slaves. Africans liberated from illegal slave ships were resettled on the islands by the Royal Navy, while some North American slaves and Seminoles escaped to The Bahamas from Florida. The Bahamas gained governmental independence in 1973 led by Sir Lynden O. Pindling, with Elizabeth II as its queen. In terms of gross domestic product per capita, The Bahamas is one of the richest countries in the Americas (following the United States and Canada), with an economy based on tourism and offshore finance. |

Lucayan Federation. It was previously able to form
Caribbean Federation before its removal.
Releasables[]
The Bahamas has no releasables.
Threats[]
- Any Caribbean nation wanting to take control over the area. The most common threat from the region is
Cuba, though
Haiti, and
Dominican Republic could also be threats if they are players.
- The
United States and/or
Mexico may look into expanding into the Caribbean.
- Though rare,
Turks and Caicos Islands may try to form
Lucayan Federation.
- The
United Kingdom may try to form the
British Empire, which requires your territory.
Strategy[]
Starting Moves[]
- Begin by constructing your factories. You should first begin by constructing one for electronics as soon as possible, with any others being relatively optional at this point unless you wish to produce your own consumer goods immediately. It is recommended at some point that you become self-sufficient and produce everything yourself. Nonetheless, make sure you have the resources necessary to maintain any factory you create.
- Both formables for The Bahamas require only one other island nation, and thus it will likely not take long to complete both. As the two are not exclusive with one another, both can be formed in succession for +15 stability.
- Though not required, you should heavily consider building a navy of as many units that your economy can handle.Destroyers and or submarines will be the most useful. With a navy, your expansion will be far easier and you will be able to defend yourself from attacks.
Expansion and Military[]
The Caribbean region rarely has players (save for the occasional Cuba player) and thus expansion into the region should be easy. Be sure you also have consumer goods by this point before beginning any further expansion.
- Unless other nations threaten you first,
Cuba is your #1 threat and should be dealt with immediately. As Cuba starts off Communist, its player will likely have an advantage in production and manpower. To prevent it from getting too powerful, declare war as soon as you have the manpower and resources to take it on. If you have constructed a navy, bombard its home guard in Havana. If it attempts to make a move towards your home islands or if the war goes against your favor, sink the units with a submarine. If you are attacked by a nation such as the
United States before this step, use your submarines and hope for the best.
- After conquering Cuba, you now own the most powerful territory in the Caribbean and everything else in the region will likely not be a threat to you. After resistance in the area goes down, you can now use Havana, a "square city", to create tanks. If you do not have factories required to make them by this point, construct them immediately.
- After conquering Cuba, you should expand into
Jamaica,
Haiti, and the
Dominican Republic, as these three are the only other regional powers in the Caribbean and conquering both will provide you with three additional cities capable of producing tanks, four if you count Kingston, Jamaica's capability of becoming a square city by 2023.
After conquering those three nations, you are now a decent regional power and you have several options on what you can do. You could annex Colombia and/or
Venezuela to take control of their oil production and produce a vastly larger navy, which can be used to defend against future threats. You could be bold and conquer a nation such as
Panama to further expand into Latin America. You could even go crazy and try to colonize Africa, but by this point you've built yourself up to where you can make your own decisions and strategies.
