— Description of forming Bruneian Empire |
The Bruneian Empire is a formable located in Southeast Asia. It requires Brunei, Malaysia, and the Philippines to form.

The Sultanate of Brunei, also known as the Bruneian Empire, was a Malay sultanate centered around
Brunei on the northern coast of Borneo in Southeast Asia. Brunei became a sovereign state around the 15th century, when it substantially expanded after the fall of
Malacca to the
Portuguese, extending throughout coastal areas of Borneo and the
Philippines, before it declined in the 17th and 18th centuries. It became a
British protectorate in the 19th century.
During the rule of Bolkiah, the fifth Sultan, the empire held control over coastal areas of northwest Borneo (present-day Brunei, Sarawak and
Sabah) and reached Seludong (present-day Manila), Sulu Archipelago including parts of the island of
Mindanao. In the 16th century, the Brunei empire's influence extended as far as Kapuas River delta in West Kalimantan. The Malay Sultanate of Sambas in West Kalimantan and
Sultanate of Sulu in Southern Philippines in particular developed dynastic relations with the royal house of Brunei. Other Malay sultans of Pontianak, Samarinda as far as Banjarmasin, treated the Sultan of Brunei as their leader. The true nature of Brunei's relations to other Malay Sultanates of coastal Borneo and Sulu archipelago is still a subject of study, as to whether it was a vassal state, an alliance, or just a ceremonial relationship. Other regional polities also exercised their influence upon these sultanates. The Sultanate of Banjar (present-day Banjarmasin) for example, was also under the influence of Demak in Java.
By the end of 17th century, Brunei entered a period of decline brought on by internal strife over royal succession, colonial expansion of the European powers, and piracy. The empire lost much of its territory due to the arrival of the western powers such as the Spanish in the Philippines, the
Dutch in southern Borneo and the British in Labuan, Sarawak and North Borneo. By 1725, Brunei had many of its supply routes had been taken over by the Sulu Sultanate.
In 1888, Sultan Hashim Jalilul Alam Aqamaddin later appealed to the British to stop further encroachment. In the same year British signed a "Treaty of Protection" and made Brunei a British protectorate until 1984 when it gained independence.
Economy and Manpower[]
The Bruneian Empire makes $2,242.515 gross income, the second most in Southeast Asia behind only Indonesia.
The Bruneian Empire also has a maximum manpower cap (2%)of 830,677, more than enough to take on all of Southeast Asia. It gains a starting 3539 manpower daily.
Terrain[]
Almost the whole formable is very hilly, with most of the it being in the Jungle biome.
Strategy[]
The Bruneian Empire is considered a very difficult formable. This is because both Malaysia and the
Philippines' home troops are stronger than Brunei's manpower alone. So, you might want to colonize weak nations to gain strength for the later game. The only thing you need is a 1M city to make tanks. Spam your troops and train them to take out Malaysia's troops using the AI Baiting method. Then make more tanks if you don't have very many. You can exchange artillery for submarines to lure the Home Guard to you and then destroy those Home Guards. Do the same for the Philippines. You have now formed the Bruneian Empire.
If Another South-eastern Nation is a Player[]
If there is another South-eastern Nation, try to ally them. More than likely they will accept but if they don't, try to ally a larger nation. If they too decline your alliance and/or the other nation is untouched by the alliance, start making forces. If they border you by land (only Malaysia) then depending on their strength and skill, your only hope is your ally's help. In the case that the nation is appalling and/or they don't border you, you have a chance besides needed your ally's help.
