Cabo Verde, otherwise known as Cape Verde is a Tier II nation off the coast of West Africa . It is composed of 2 cities, and it is not recommended to play as, because of its weak economy and isolation from the African mainland
Background[]
Uninhabited on their discovery in 1456, the Cabo Verde islands became part of the Portuguese Empire in 1495. A majority of today's inhabitants are of mixed Portuguese and African ancestry.
Positioned on the great trade routes between Africa, Europe, and the New World, the islands became a prosperous centre for the slave trade, but suffered economic decline after the slave trade was abolished in 1876. In the 20th century, Cabo Verde served as a shipping port.
In 1951, Cape Verde's status changed from a Portuguese colony to an overseas province, and in 1961 the inhabitants became full Portuguese citizens. An independence movement led by the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau (another former Portuguese colony) and Cabo Verde (PAIGC) was founded in 1956. Following the 1974 coup in
Portugal, after which Portugal began abandoning its colonial empire, the islands became independent (July 5, 1975).
In 1980, a Coup attempted by Bernardo Vieira and João Bernardo Vieira bloodlessly removed the former president. As such, the Cape Verde branch of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde broke away from the branch of the party in Guinea-Bissau, thus separating the two.
On Jan. 13, 1991, the first multiparty elections since independence resulted in the ruling African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV) losing its majority to the Movement for Democracy Party (MPD). The MPD candidate, Antonio Monteiro, won the subsequent presidential election, and was easily re-elected in 1996. In 2001, Pedro Pires became president.

Threats[]
- Any African nation such as South Africa trying to form
African Union will require Cabo Verde to form.
- African nations as well as other nations attempting to use it as a stepping stone to break out of Africa or invade Africa, depending on the case.
- Portugal needs Cabo Verde to form the
Portuguese Empire.
Strategy[]
Ideal Playthrough[]
No Aggressive Nigerian Players. Also Justifications/Invasions are in order.
- At the start of the game, build 2 Electronic Factories, buy resources from the supplier that is most likely to not be invaded (
Chile is good for the latter of the 2 resources), buy 4.01
Gold and
Copper. Sell the
Electronics when you can. With the money go max Government Spending and max Research Spending, along with maximum military spending. Check the leaders for a research leader, and get Advance the Research Borough. Lower your Taxation Laws for more Stability. Research research output in the technology tree till told otherwise or finished.
- Begin justifying on
Sierra Leone and
Guinea-Bissau.
- Build recruitment centers on every city. Get the first level of Massed Attack, as you will need the extra manpower gain.
- Now begin invading
Sierra Leone and then
Guinea-Bissau Start justifying on
Liberia and
Guinea. Once you are done invading Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau, form
Guine e Cabo Verde. This will give you much more population and a good few more cities, along with a few resources.
- You should now have 200 or more manpower gain. Try to get Limited conscription, and save up for Nationalism to eventually become Fascist.
- Begin making Tanks, you already have
Titanium, buy enough
Iron to have a +0.01 or more income of it, then buy
Tungsten from anyone you can, buy 0.1 less than what they can sell.
- Start the invasion of
Liberia and
Guinea now. These two nations will give you just about every resource you need. Follow it up by taking
Cote d'Ivoire and
Ghana and justify on
Senegal,
Mali and
Burkina Faso now. You should keep an eye on your economy as your Economic Laws might be effecting it harshly.
- Invade
Senegal,
Mali and
Burkina Faso now, you should slowly make your way towards
Nigeria and take it, then go towards the
Democratic Republic of the Congo and south or to
Morocco/
Algeria and into Europe. From there you can conquer Africa and Europe, maybe even the Americas and Asia.
An Aggressive Nigerian Player.[]
They don't accept Alliances and has clear intent to invade you. Follow the "Ideal Playthrough" till 3rd step. This likely won't work on very experienced players.
- Create a Military Group and assign a Military Leader to it, find a defensive one (starts with a defensive bonus), and use it while training and to take out troops.
- Invade
Sierra Leone and
Guinea-Bissau, and then justify on
Senegal and
Liberia. Those two will give you 2 square cities, which will allow you to make a good amount of tanks.
- You will need Limited conscription to even come close to the amount of manpower
Nigeria gets.
- Go to Nationalism Ideology when possible, become Fascist when you can.
- Try to rush a consumer goods factory for a good economy. This should be easy with the money you have gained from
Guinea-Bissau and
Sierra Leone. Build a steel, motor, fertilizer, and consumer goods factory. If you have the money, you should also build an aircraft factory. A good air-force will help you in a Nigerian war.
- Equip the "The Military Service Act" and "Enforce Party Loyalty". Start to research infantry or tank research. This depends on what you plan on using, though tanks are probably better in the early game.
- Make tanks. You should surround your capital, Praia, with a few submarines, so that you cannot get cap-sniped. You want to defend your cities with factories, so put forts on Bissau, Praia, and maybe Dakar and Monrovia.
- Line the troops up and prepare them if you haven't already, begin building troops you haven't set to the frontline in the back and keep them there, split them up into 40,000's and 50,000's, as they gain Military Experience faster.
- Justify war on
Nigeria and declare on them if they don't declare first, stay defensive. They should be expecting an easy victory and pushing you, which is a huge mistake! Your troops will quickly demolish theirs, and you can begin making a counter attack, either once you know they're out of Manpower or rage quit or if you're feeling confident enough.
A Friendly Nigerian Player.[]
They may or may not accept Alliances, but overall have no intention to invade you immediately, follow "Ideal Playthrough" till 6th step.
- You should begin justifying on
Senegal,
Mali,
Mauritania,
Morocco,
Western Sahara and
Algeria, this will more than replace what you couldn't take before. Start selling more
Electronics if you need money.
- Take all of the previously mentioned countries, and justify on
Portugal and
Spain in Europe, while you should justify on
Tunisia and
Libya, maybe also
Egypt if it's an AI (unlikely). Once you've taken these countries, you should start building up.
- Become fully independent of trades, Tier 5 cities should be enough.
If
Nigeria no longer wishes to be friendly.[]
They've decided that you're a threat or that you're an easy target.
- Make lots of tanks and get Aircraft Parts for Attackers, buy the
Steel and
Motor Parts from anyone necessary, while you should try to directly buy a 20 bulk of Aircraft Parts if possible, or start making them yourself (Way more expensive, but free if you conquered
Egypt).
- Begin researching in the Tanks technology tree for attack and defense, speed doesn't matter as much.
- You need to make a huge army on the border where it's mostly populated, get a good defensive Military Leader (Look at first step for "An Aggressive Nigerian Player") and train it up as far as possible, put 5-6 Divisions with 1,200,000+ troops in them on the border, and begin training them too, make 6 Artillery. Make 5 Attackers or more for preparations and train them up with a Military Leader for the Airforce. Try to keep above 2,000,000 total income.
- Stay as defensive as possible, try to let them attack you first, if they won't, make 10 Bomber planes, along with your Attackers, you should begin bombing their cities and killing their troops, attempt to make them quit or make them so weak that you could steamroll them.
Nigeria doesn't quit.[]
- Proceed to make a huge tank army in the back for the steamroll, use the planes to scout over all the possible troops as quickly as possible before they make Anti Aircraft, if there's any big pockets of units, bomb the city or cities and use Attackers to kill the troops.
- You by now, should be able to take out any units that are a threat, slowly make your way towards the biggest amount of troops gathered or the capital, depending on which is closest, this will force them to become aggressive and attack you, chances of defeating them are in your odds.
- They've spent most of their Manpower now, and is desperately trying to stay alive, justify and take any country that declares independence from them, take the rest of the country when you deem possible.
- You can now follow "Ideal Playthrough" step 8.
Nigeria quits.[]
- Make a huge stack of troops and lure their troops in and then take it out.
- The country is now free to take, make lots of tanks for a steamroll over the country.
- You can now follow "Ideal Playthrough" step 8.
If you wish to take
Nigeria[]
You've decided that Nigeria was a good ally/friendly person, but it's time for them to go.
- Build up a huge tank army and keep it out of view from
Nigeria or just far away, place it near Sierra Leone's territory to have the excuse of "Going to South America".
- Make a few Attackers, 8 should be enough, try to scout out their units numbers and their placements. Maybe take
Sao Tome and Principe as an Airport.
- Justify on
Nigeria or Nigeria's ally that has no other allies, possibly also is an AI and really weak.
- Declare war on them/the ally and swiftly make your Tanks be useful by splitting them into 15+ units with ideally 400+ in each, as quickly as you can, begin to take their cities, if you have infantry, try to use that to hit their infantry first (if they have anti-tank research). Use your Attackers to kill the enemy troops.
- If all goes according to plan, you should be steamrolling them or somewhat steamrolling, it doesn't matter if they quit or stay, you should've won the war.
