Cossackia (Russian: Казакия) is a term sometimes used to refer to the traditional areas where the Cossack communities live in Russia and Ukraine, and to the lands of the Zaporizhian Host. Depending on its context, "Cossackia" may mean the ethnographic area of Cossack habitat or a proposed Cossack state independent from the Soviet Union.[1] The name "Cossackia" became popular among the Cossack émigrés in Europe after the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the ensuing civil war. It was used to designate a union of seven Cossack territorial Hosts ("units")— the Don, Kuban, Terek, Astrakhan, Ural, Orenburg, and the Kalmuk district. The idea of Cossackia was first mooted in December 1920 by a group of Cossack emigres in Constantinople who founded the Union for the Resurrection of Cossackdom.[2] The majority of the Cossacks in exile saw themselves as Russians, and the idea of Cossackia was disallowed by the atamans of the Don, Kuban, and Terek Hosts.[2] The majority of the Cossack emigres were living in poverty and had little interest in the project.[3] Calls for an independent Cossackia emerged within the vibrant émigré Cossack community in Prague, Czechoslovakia, later in the 1920s. The principle champion of Cossackia was Vasily Glazkov, a Don Cossack who founded the Cossack National Center in Prague.[4] Glazkov's Cossack National Center had about only 12 members, but gained an influential patron in the form of Nazi Germany.[5] After the German occupation of the Czech half of Czecho-Slovakia in March 1939, the Cossack National Center was the only Cossack group permitted to operate in Prague with the others all being closed.[5] A project of a constitution for Cossackia was also devised and envisaged the creation of the state of Cossackia and its secession from the Soviet Union. |
Modifier[]
When formed, the modifier "Ataman Be Praised" is gifted and will grant the buff:
- Military Starting Exp: +8%
- Military Recruitment Time: -10%
- Manpower Increase: +8%
- Ground Upkeep: -10%
This modifier corresponds with the formables: Almighty Don Host,
Kuban People's Republic, and the
Yaik Cossack Host.
Geography[]
Terrain[]
The entire landscape of Cossackia comprises of flat, basic terrain (commonly from the south and some of the northeast and the northwest regions) to the Ural Mountains strip which distinctively described are the Semi-Mountainous land in the middle of the Ural Republic which include its common capital, Yekaterinburg, and the Mountainous lands that stretch out north and the chip of the south which are the main type of terrain in the mountains. There are also single regional spots of Hilly terrain which come out from the southern Ural Mountains (locally the southern and the eastern parts).
Biome[]
The integrity of the Cossackian lands are plainly empty but with the exception of a few Arid climate in the regions exactly north of the Caspian Sea. It does have seasonal winters starting with much of the northern half landmass of the Ural Republic (and a tip from the southern most northern land) and to the northern regions of
Don being succumbing to Mild Winter which later progresses into Severe Winter in late winter. And during late winter, the rest of its landmass then is painted into more of Mild Winter
Political[]
Border wise, most of its largest border belongs to Russia which can be bordering from the northeast of regions from the
Ural Republic all the way to the
Don regions (including the Caucasian Mountain range separated entirely from Russia) in the north thus forming an imperfect curve. It also borders
Ukraine from the west to
Kazakhstan from the southeast. A very notable feature of its border is a concerning narrow path in its land that connect the Ural Republic to its bottom half self being squeezed between Russia and Kazakhstan. Another different noticeable thing of the formable is despite bordering the Caspian Sea it does not have any port cities and only offers on port in the Black Sea.
Economy and Manpower[]
Cossackia has a relatively strong base income of $618,111 and has a manpower capacity of 258,365. This can be increased with the conscription laws seen below.
Disarmed | Volunteer | Limited | Extensive | Required |
---|---|---|---|---|
129 076 | 258,365 | 645 379 | 1 290 757 | 3 226 892 |
Population & Cities[]
Cossackia has 83 cities, three of which start square, spanning a substantial section of Russia territory (height wise). It has a decently sized base population of 12,904,901, accounting for roughly 16% of base starting Russian population. These factors combine to make Cossackia a relatively strong country when paired with its modifiers. Its three biggest cities by size (starting largest) are: Yekaterinburg (1,330,000), Chelyabinsk (1,127,000) and Rostov (1,050,000).
Resources[]
Cossackia is also relatively rich in rare resources like Tungsten which it produces 2.33 units of in two cities, Elista and Kartaly. It also produces 1.22
Aluminum and 0.61
Titanium. However, for the most part, common resources such as
Oil are quite low.
Threats[]
Russia trying to reintegrate you
- Other Russian releasables trying to gain control of the country
Ukraine, declaring on you for territorial expansion
Kazakhstan may declare on you for territorial expansion, or if they feel threatened by your expansion.
Strategy[]
It is recommended to start as The Ural Republic, but you could also start as
Don as these both have a medium sized population. For the sake of simplicity, we will assume you will start as
Ural Republic. Firstly, you should begin by creating 2 Electronics Factories in your two biggest cities. Purchase 3
Copper and 4
Gold from AI Nations and then sell the products you make. After this, you should start making $3.230.000 which is enough to put all of you economic laws onto max (excluding anti-corruption). Next, try to create 60k troops and justify on
Bashkortostan for the increased number of cities. After your invasion, justify on
Astrakhan and
Kalmykia, west of the
Kazakhstan border. After that, make sure your army has replenished before then justifying and invading
Terek,
Don and
Kuban. After this, you only need 7 Kazak cities, which they may ceed to you (if they are a player), however assume this will be unlikely.
If Kazakhstan is a player and declines a ceed request:
- Firstly, justify on Kazakhstan and begin by creating 150k troops. Train these troops for Arid conditions.
- Create 20k more troops to protect your capital from any attacks. Do not create any artillery as this will waste precious money and MP.
- Begin by sending 100k troops, attempting to take their capital as it is close to your border and relatively weak.
- Send the remaining 50k to seize the 7 cities you need for your formable.
- Entrench in the capital and make sure they don't break your forces.
- Watch out for allies:
Russia may try to create a second front,
China or
Iran may try to assist Kazakhstan, other Russian releasables may also try to fight you, attempting to gain land. Make sure to protect square cities as many of the other releasables lack these in large quantities.
After this, you should be able to form Cossackia. As you already hold much of the territory needed for your next formable ( Yaik Cossack Host) it is recommended that you complete that next.
