Background[]

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a different country from the Republic of Congo. They share a border and both bear "Congo" in their names, but they are separate countries.

There were probably people living in the area that is today known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo as far back as 8000 BC. They were herders, farmers, and tribal peoples. Around 600 to 700 AD the Bantu people came to the area and settled.

The first Europeans to come to the land were the Portuguese. Explorer Diego Cao arrived in 1482. Many years later, in the late 1800s, British journalist and explorer Henry Morton Stanley would travel through much of the area. In 1885 the area became a colony of Belgian King Leopold II and would become a Belgian possession in 1907. In the 1960s Belgian Congo gained full independence. The first prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo was Patrice Lumumba, and the first president was Joseph Kasvubu.

Strategy[]

First start by justifying on the Republic of Congo. You should buy 3 Gold and 4 Copper from AI nations. To make 2 electronic factories, which then you can sell those electronics for income. Create some infantry with your manpower reserves. After this, declare war on the Republic of Congo, use AI Luring to make your life easier then auto capture and annex them, in the peace deal.

Moving on you can take nations surrounding you like, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, and the Central African Republic are all good nations to take, for resources and will make your stronger as a whole. You could also get tanks at this time if you want to make this a faster process.

You make a steel and motor factory then buy the required resources to make them run.

South Africa will also likely have their sights on you, as the DRC is good country to take. If no player is playing as Nigeria, it would be considered wise to take it, even if your borders don't touch it, considering its high population and its megacity, Lagos.

Making allies with someone like Turkey or Saudi Arabia may be wise in order to extinguish Egypt, but South Africa is most likely to be your own battle. Good SA players will make tanks, and early in the game they are hard to counter, so rushing Anti-tank rounds before or during the war would be wise. Building recruitment centers in all your cities from the start will let you not have to worry about MP in that war. Making a navy and airforce would be useful and give you an advantage in the war.
