The Durrani Empire was founded and built by Ahmad Shah Durrani. At its maximum extent, the empire ruled over what are now the modern-day countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as parts of northeastern and southeastern Iran, eastern Turkmenistan, and northwestern India. Next to the Ottoman Empire, the Durrani Empire is considered to be among the most significant Islamic Empires of the 18th century.
History[]
After the death of Nader Shah in 1747, the region of Kandahar was claimed by Ahmad Shah Durrani. From there he began conquering Ghazni followed by Kabul. In 1749 the Mughal ruler had ceded sovereignty over much of north-west India to the Afghans. Ahmad Shah then set out westward to take possession of Mashhad, which was ruled by Shahrokh Shah. He next sent an army to subdue the areas north of the Hindu Kush and in short order all the different tribes began joining his cause. Ahmad Shah and his forces invaded India four times, taking control of Kashmir and the Punjab region. Early in 1757, he sacked Delhi, but permitted the Mughal dynasty to remain in nominal control as long as the ruler acknowledged Ahmad Shah's suzerainty over the Punjab, Sindh, and Kashmir. Following Ahmad's death in 1772, his son Timur Shah Durrani became the next ruler of the Durrani dynasty. Under Timur, the city of Kabul became the new capital of the Durrani Empire while Peshawar served as its winter capital; however, the empire had begun to crumble by this time.[14] The dynasty would become heirs of Afghanistan for generations, up until Dost Muhammad Khan and the Barakzai dynasty deposed the Durrani dynasty in Kabul, leading to its supersession by the Emirate of Afghanistan. The Durrani Empire is considered to be the foundational polity of the modern nation-state of Afghanistan, with Ahmad being credited as its Father of the Nation. |
Economy and Manpower[]
The Durrani Empire makes $3,071,124 and has a maximum manpower cap of 980,222.
Strategy[]
(Refer to the Strategy in Afghanistan page. This is a More detailed explanation)
For starters, get a good enough army to match Pakistan, then place your troops in a city not too far away from the troops but not too close to let them entrench. Then, the Pakistani troops will march at the entrenched troops and get defeated. to avoid high attrition, try to take a trail of cities towards Lahore and Karachi,
It is recommended to make Tanks however for cities with population over 1m. then secure a city near them and take those cities. Feel free to auto capture Pakistan after.
You should be aware of the fact that India might want to form the
Maurya Empire, and Pakistan is needed for that. So, if you can, ally India to prolong your existence. If they refuse your alliance, get ready for a possible invasion.
In order to be safe from India, you need to build fortifications on your border with India incase of an attack.
Geography[]
Terrain[]
The Terrain of the Durrani Empire is all hilly in Afghanistan and part of western Pakistan, except for a semi mountainous region in the north west. The panhandle plus far north area of Pakistan is mountainous, and the rest of the country is flat.
