— Description of forming Dutch Empire |
The Dutch Empire is a formable which is exclusive to the Netherlands. Forming this gives the player the Stadtholder title.
Background[]
The following is taken from Wikipedia which is licensed under CC-BY-SA 4.0. You can view the article it was taken from here.
The Dutch Colonial Empire consisted of trading posts and territories held by the Dutch West/East India Company and by the Dutch Republic.
Following the Napoleonic Wars, the British had seized most of their colonies, including the Cape Colony (part of South Africa today). However, most of the colonies would be given back to the Dutch after the Napoleonic Wars. Dutch Malacca (part of
Malaysia today) was ceded to the British in 1824. Modern
Belgium and
Luxembourg were given to the Dutch after the Napoleonic Wars, but they lost both after the Belgian Revolution in 1831. The Dutch sold their possessions in West Africa
(which aren't included in the formable) to the British in 1872. The Dutch avoided WW1, however in 1940 The Dutch was invaded and occupied by Germans, and in 1942, the
Empire of Japan invaded and occupied the Dutch East Indies (now
Indonesia) until 1945. However, the Dutch had to fight a war with Indonesian rebels once trying to retake the area, in which they lost and withdrew in 1949. Dutch Suriname would be given independence in 1975 and Dutch New Guinea would fall under UN administration in August 1962, and then would be given to Indonesia 1 May 1963.
The Dutch Empire is not based on a time period, rather it's based on the ideas of mass trading, as both South Africa and Belgium are needed. Not only with that, but trading ports around the globe also made it the richest state at one point.
Geography[]
Terrain[]
The Dutch Empire's terrain is not very different from each-other, despite the fact that it is a massive empire, they had colonized the flatlands of the coasts and islands around the globe. The terrain of the empire is generally flat in Europe and in South America, whilst the rest of the empire is more changed than the other lands, being flat and Hilly in South Africa,
Indonesia,
Sri Lanka, and
Taiwan.
Biome[]
The Benelux area experiences Mild Winter throughout December-January, and is the normal biome in the rest of the year. Other countries in the normal biome are nations made up of one-city islands,
Mauritius, much of
South Africa except for the area surrounding the cities of Sprinkbok and Upington (which is Arid), and
Trinidad and Tobago. All of its Asian and South American colonies are in the Jungle.
Borders[]
The Dutch Empire borders the nations of France,
Germany,
Venezuela,
Brazil,
French Guiana,
Lesotho,
Eswatini,
Namibia,
Botswana,
Zimbabwe,
Mozambique,
Malaysia,
Papua New Guinea, and
Timor-Leste.
Cities[]
The Dutch Empire consists of 242 cities. Its capital is Amsterdam, while its largest city is Jakarta.
Economy and Manpower[]
The Dutch Empire gains around $8,720,000 in income. The Dutch Empire has a manpower cap of 1,623,978, which is a massive amount that hugely boosts the empire in any conquests that the current player feels like beginning in order to expand. It gains around 10,440 manpower.

Resources[]
The Dutch Empire has an increase of the following resources:
- 4.2 units of aluminum
- 15.8 units of chromium
- 4 units of copper
- 14.4 units of diamond
- 14.7 units of gold
- 9 units of iron
- 27.6 units of oil
- 0.8 unit of phosphate
- 3 units of tungsten
Strategies[]
Strategy A:[]
Build a recruitment center in your capital city. This will give you a major manpower boost which will be well needed by the times of the end-game when your fighting Indonesia and
China (If they took
Taiwan).
At the start and through-out the early game, you are surrounded by the powerful and expansionist regional powers of France,
Germany, and the
United Kingdom, which these powers will most likely want to annex you before you have the chance to form the
Benelux. If you fail to form an alliance with any of them early game, you must act quickly and build a defense It is best advised that you place fortifications your cities and your border cities. Since you have 3 of these major square cities, which all of them can and should be used to deploy tanks, the best focus to to dominate early game and taking them over is by upgrading the power of your tanks via technology. It is also very helpful to fortify your borders with a pair of artillery units to go along the side of your already upgraded tanks. Place down a naval unit as well, to prevent a mass invasion from the
United Kingdom or other countries.
After weathering the major powers either by diplomacy or conquering them, make sure to annex Belgium and
Luxembourg. This will allow you to form the
Benelux, granting you cores on the entire region and giving you a stability boost. Now that you have destroyed the mainland and became a noticed regional power, it is best advised that you should focus on annexing your former colonial possessions before the
United Kingdom,
France, or
China gets to them (the latter is unlikely that you will get it first).
The first colony your tanks should deal with will be located inside the Jungle lands of South America . First, if Brazil has
Guyana and
Suriname, you should try to form an alliance with
Portugal if they are a player, so that you can partition
Brazil, helping you and them form. If not, it is best advised that you quickly take over the two tiny states located inside the continent, because
Brazil may take your required nations before you to form the
United States of South America. If the latter occurs, negotiate with them. If they refuse, then send at least 3-4k tanks to the region, and build an aircraft manufactory to build an aircraft carrier is possible. If not, build a destroyer and/or battleship to chip at the units near their capital, so you can safely launch an invasion. Also, send a submarine to reinforce these units. After showing you are more than capable of conquering
Brazil, attempt to negotiate with them once more. If they constantly reject, or if they rage quit, simply continue to invade them, and once it collapses or you take 90% of its cities, annex the country.
Once you have dealt with the South American question, you should push all of your colonial divisions (which should be made up of tanks and infantry) all the way over to Africa . Check if
South Africa is a player. If they are, you may have some trouble, as by this point, they could have tanks, aircraft, and already have formed the
South African Union. In order to counter this, it is recommended for you to take your naval and artillery units in order to assist in quickly defeating the great big nation. If
South Africa is an AI, auto-capture as quickly as you can. After you have done that, take a few units to conquer
Sao Tome and Principe and
Mauritius, best to use tanks for this.
Next, take your troops to Asia and quickly conquer
Sri Lanka. Check if
Indonesia is a player. Again, if they are a player, take naval units to assist defeating them. If they are not, bait the AI and take over the country. Lastly, you will need to annex
Taiwan, which will likely by annexed by
China by this point of your journey. If they are annexed by
China (which may have formed into the
Qing Dynasty), you will have to negotiate with
China, capital snipe them to put them in low stability, allowing an independent
Taiwan for you to annex, or wait for them to leave the server so you can easily invade them (they likely already have due to not knowing what to do after forming their only formable). thus the possibility of
Taiwan declaring independence. Otherwise, conquering all of
China will prove insanely difficult. Once you have annexed
Taiwan, you can form the Dutch Empire. Congratulations!
You do not have to conquer these nations in the exact chronological order in which is recommended on this wiki page, and it is best that you should make your tactics be based on the threats made by other players throughout your imperialist campaign (e.g. if Japan seems to be conquering the southeast nations, focus on taking
Indonesia before them). Also, this strategy assumes that other players have not conquered any of your required nations yet, which drastically helps.
Strategy B:[]
Have a friend playing as the United States,
Brazil,
China, or
India. Have them also expand so they can grow more and more capable of helping you in any future troubles. This is so you can easily secure the colonies in the region those countries are in that are usually conquered by them, and so you have a big and powerful ally to assist you in any difficult wars. If a country like
France,
Britain, or
Germany attacks you, have your friend perform one of the two actions listed below, depending what country they are:
- If they're the
United States or
Brazil, have him send a lot of troops abroad to Europe
to perform a counter-offensive against these countries to win the war, and have those troops be stationed in your country just in case of another invasion. Order them to send reinforcements if necessary.
- If they're
China or
India, have them send you a lot of aid in the form of money and manpower, as they are too far away to help in the war in any other way. If all of these fail to help your cause, you can just restart.
If these actions succeed, annex Belgium and
Luxembourg to form the
Benelux. After that, recolonize the other areas needed for the empire. If another power takes a required country for the formable, have your strong ally threaten them to give you said country. If they give in and cede, great. If they don't, declare war, and add your ally in. By now, you should be strong enough to take them on by yourself and just spam tanks, but add your ally in just in case they strengthen themselves during the war, having difficulty in the war in general, or if they manage to repel your invasions. Repeat this process of conquering and threatening until you have all the required lands, from which you can restore the once mighty Dutch Empire!
Threats[]
France,
Germany, and the
United Kingdom invading the
Benelux region.
- The United Kingdom conquering
South Africa,
Guyana,
Trinidad and Tobago,
Sri Lanka, and
Mauritius to form the
British Empire.
- France needs
Sao Tome and Principe and Mauritius to form the
French Empire.
Belgium or
Luxembourg may invade you to form the Benelux.
- South Africa will easily get powerful if it is a player and form the
South African Union.
- Any African nation trying to form
African Union.
China will easily annex
Taiwan to form the
Qing Dynasty.
Japan may annex Taiwan and
Indonesia to form the
Empire of Japan.
- Any nation willing to form
Alam Melayu, which requires Taiwan and Sri Lanka to form.
Brazil,
Colombia, or
Venezuela may invade
Suriname and
Guyana as they are one of the weakest nations in South America.
- The
United States may take over colonies in the Caribbean or expand over into South America.
- Any Southeast Asian nations willing to form the
Federation of Southeast Asian States requires Indonesia to form.
