Roblox Rise of Nations Wiki

Equatorial Guinea is a Tier II nation located in Africa . It borders Gabon to the east and south, Cameroon to the north, and the Gulf of Guinea to the west, although it does share maritime borders with Sao Tome and Principe. What's special about this nation is its capital is not on its mainland, allowing for stronger or weaker defenses, depending on how you play your cards.

Background[]

The area that is now Equatorial Guinea was inhabited for many years by local tribes and the Pygmies. During the European colonization period, Spain took over the area and had control for around 190 years. In 1968 Spain granted the country full independence.

In 1979 President Obiang Nguema gained power over the Equatorial Guinea government in a coup. Since then he has ruled more like a full dictator than a president. The country itself has become rich due to oil reserves found off the coast. However, the majority of the population is still poor and has sub-standard living conditions.

Strategy[]

Starting Moves[]

Equatorial Guinea is not in the best geographic position since there is Nigeria to the northwest, and Congo-Kinshasa to the southwest. These two countries would most likely end up invading neighboring countries, such as Cameroon for Sokoto Caliphate and Congo-Brazzaville for Zaire, so at that point there is not much room to expand as it would be near impossible to take on these two countries with your very small manpower capacity and economy, even after taking Gabon. However, you could become a maritime empire and create colonies across different continents instead of focusing on continental Africa, at least until you have sufficient economy and manpower to take on Nigeria or DRC. The first thing you should do as Equatorial Guinea is to build 2-4 electronic factories since you have very low tax income and will need to rely on trade for the time being. While you are waiting for the factories to finish building justify conquest on Gabon. Sell electronics to AI countries, and then use all of your manpower to train 60k-80k infantry. Taking Gabon should not anger DRC that much since they do not need it for any of their unique formables, so just capture one city, wait for the home guard to attack your entrenched troops and take the rest of Gabon. After that you can form Fang Federation for a stability boost.

Defending yourself from Nigeria[]

Most of the time Nigeria would just expand west after taking Cameroon so they can form Gold Coast, but occasionally they may end up expanding south instead. This is where your capital being on an island becomes an advantage. In order for Nigeria to take it, they have to use transport ships and thus they would be extremely vulnerable to entrenched troops or a navy. With the money you got selling electronics, switch to submarine warfare doctrine and create 2 submarines. One to protect your capital, and another for your mainland. Also, train infantry in your two most important cities, Malabo and Bata. Most Nigeria players are new, so they would send their army in just a few divisions and that's when your submarines can strike. If they do build escort ships then counter those with a battleship and some destroyers. To prevent falling into a deficit from the military upkeep and oil trade, switch to nationalism and enact the military service policy.

Defending yourself from DR Congo[]

For DRC, the strategy is slightly different, but you still want to be using at least one submarine in case they manage to fully take your mainland so you can stop them from taking your capital too. You want to focus more on getting artillery and infantry to defend your cities, and use the jungle terrain to your advantage. If you do run out of manpower, you could ask a foreign power for some, such as the United States, as they have massive reserves and your capacity is low anyways so it wouldn't hurt them to send you some.
