— Description of forming Franco-British Union |
The Franco-British Union is a formable of the United Kingdom and
France in Europe
containing 127 Cities. It is moderately difficult to form, depending on the skill of France and
Germany possibly taking it. The player cannot form the
Angevin Empire after forming this. It is around 8th in rankings and becomes a major power in Europe once formed.
Background[]
The Franco-British union was a proposition brought up during two time periods:
- World War II (When France surrendered to Nazi Germany, to be exact)
- Suez Crisis (During the Cold War)
WWII[]
A British Diplomat by the name of Robert Vansittart along with a few others first drafted this plan on June 4, 1940. However, during a meeting, many French Leaders called it a Last-minute plan for Britain to steal their colonies, stating that they would rather be a German Province than a British Dominion. The union idea was then called off.
Suez Crisis[]
In September 1956, due to the ongoing Suez Crisis (Which in short, saw France, the United Kingdom and Israel fight
Egypt, who had the support of many nations), Two proposals were made. The 1st union was with Queen Elizabeth the II as a Head of state in the union. A 2nd union was made, where France would join the Commonwealth. However, both of these were denied, so France went with the Treaty of Rome, which created the E.E.C, strengthening Franco-German relations, later going to make the
European Union. Following the war, the British Prime Minister, Anthony Eden, faced harsh criticism and resigned two months after the end of the Crisis. French Prime Minister Guy Mollet faced harsh criticism as well, but, unlike Eden, survived the Crisis.
Economy and Manpower[]
The Franco-British Union has a base income of 4,124,309. Its base manpower cap is around 1,129,721.

Spanish border, and Mountainous at its border with

Strategy[]
This formable is equally challenging as both countries. There is some luck involved. Don't call any allies as they might take some needed land. Due to the English Channel, build a few submarines to sink any infantry or tanks wanting to land on your coast. Send infantry and tanks to Scotland if you are France or to South-West France if you are the United Kingdom to catch the enemy off guard. Keep sending reinforcements if needed. Use aircraft to dwindle down the numbers of enemy units.
Criticism[]
The Franco-British Union faces criticism due to it being a ''random union'' as some users say. There is also controversy over the fact that this thing would have owned all of the British and French colonies, but since that would be a monstrosity, it shouldn't be added and without it, it's a pointless union some say. It also said that since this is supposed to be a union ''against a common enemy'' It would make no sense for both France and the United Kingdom to fight each other to form a ''union''. Many say that the ''union'' is dedicated to countries wanting to unite or a group of ethnic peoples wanting to unite. For example, the Balkan Federation is a regional union;
Eweland the latter. However, this is a one-on-one country union and would not make sense for one country to attack the other to form a ''union'' some say.

Trivia[]
The crown on top of the British shield in the flag is St. Edward's Crown while the crown on the top of the French shield is based on the Crown of Napoleon III. The crown on top of the removed Commonwealth symbol is a naval crown.
