French Guiana is a Tier l Nation located in South America .It is the weakest South American country, bordering Suriname to the west and Brazil to the South. It has many threats due to its size. Because of this it is not recommended to new players requiring high skill to fully utilize the unique position of French Guiana, and it's 2.5x XP multiplier of which French Guiana is the only country in South America to have. If properly managed you can rule over The Americas, but it demands a level of competence, patience, and efficiency.

Background[]

French Guiana is an overseas department and region of France on the northern Atlantic coast of South America in the Guianas. It borders Brazil to the east and south and Suriname to the west. French Guiana is the only territory of the mainland Americas to have full integration in a European country.

There is no currently known written history of French Guiana before the Europeans arrived. The original inhabitants of French Guiana known were Native Americans. Europeans arrived during the voyages of Christopher Columbus. The French came to the area in the 17th century. They had a difficult time surviving due to tropical diseases. For a short period of time (1809 -1813) the Portuguese took over the area, but soon the French regained control of French Guiana through the Treaty of Paris. A presence of Portugal remained until 1817.

France used the now infamous Devil's Island, an island off the coast of French Guiana, as a penal colony for criminals. France sent almost 56,000 prisoners to the island, few of which survived.

French Guiana became an overseas department of France in 1946 shortly after World War Two.

In 1964 the construction of a space-travel base was started in French Guiana. Today the Guiana Space Center is an important part of the European space industry.

Geography[]

The terrain is all flat. All of French Guiana is part of the Jungle biome. French Guiana borders Suriname to the west, the Caribbean Sea to the north, and Brazil to the south. This means France technically borders these countries and sea because in real life French Guiana is part of France.

Cities[]

French Guiana has three cities with the capital, Cayenne, having 61.6k inhabitants. The capital makes up most of the population. The other biggest cities are Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, with 24.3k people and Kourou with 24k people leaving a population of 109,866 people.

Formables[]

French Guiana is unable to form any formables.

Strategy[]

Begin with building an electronics factory and buying the materials used for it. Ally Brazil and justify on Suriname and Guyana. Spam all your infantry and once you have done that, select "Massed Attack" as your doctrine. Then train your troops. As with any other nation, get the Welfare Act, as it will give you +5% base stability. Make sure to research the "research" section and advance the Research Bureau.

Once your justifications for Guyana and Suriname are complete, you have sold your Electronics, and your infantry is ready, declare war on both nations. Entrench your troops in a city far enough away from the capital in Suriname. The biome is jungle, so most likely your trained (and entrenched) troops will beat Suriname's. After Suriname's troops are gone, auto-capture Suriname. Do your terms of "annex cities", "size state treasury 75%", and "seize resources 75%". These will be the same terms for Guyana.

Entrench in a city in Guyana. Make sure you train your now weakened army because almost 50% of your troops will be gone by the time all of Guyana's troops are. Take the rest of the cities now do the terms above.

Once you have enough political power, take nationalism as it will help you take over the Caribbean and Venezuela.

You will likely be noticed by a Caribbean nation (if there is any) or, more likely, a South American nation like Colombia. Start upgrading cities and making forts in your capital and other big cities. Now begin making consumers and have government spending on low for the moment. Capture Caribbean islands and Hispaniola.

Begin to build a navy off the coast of Hispaniola, using your steel to build battleships and aircraft carriers (if needed). If Brazil or Venezuela are AI then invade them.

Threats[]

There are some notable threats, including but not limited to:

Politics[]

French Guiana begins non-aligned as with most nations. Start working towards nationalism and fascism. It's recommended to get the policies Advance the Research Bureau and The Public Service Act. Once you sell you Electronics, get high research spending and high government spending.

Trivia[]

  • French Guiana used to have 2 formables: The Guiana Union and the United States of South America, but they were removed in an update.
  • In real life, French Guiana is a part of France, specifically a department of France, and not a colony.
  • In real life, the biggest French border is with Brazil because of French Guiana's borders!
  • French Guiana in-game has a smaller population than even some of the island nations in the Caribbean, with the 8th total smallest population in the Americas, and the least populated nation in all of South America.
