Hok-giong is a Mindong (Eastern Min) term that refers to the province of Fujian (福建) in Southern China. Fujian is a province located in the southeastern part of China, along the coast of the Taiwan Strait. It is bordered by Zhejiang to the north, Jiangxi to the west, and Guangdong to the south. The capital of Fujian is Fuzhou, and other major cities include Xiamen, Quanzhou, and Zhangzhou. Fujian's literal translation is: Fu(zhou) and Jian(zhou). Nanping is Jianzhou but it had a name change.
