Iceland is a Nordic island country in the North Atlantic Ocean, with a population of 356,991 and an area of 103,000 km2 (40,000 sq mi), making it the most sparsely populated country in Europe. The capital and largest city is Reykjavík. Reykjavík and the surrounding areas in the southwest of the country are home to over two-thirds of the population. Iceland is volcanically and geologically active. The interior consists of a plateau characterised by sand and lava fields, mountains, and glaciers, and many glacial rivers flow to the sea through the lowlands. Iceland is warmed by the Gulf Stream and has a temperate climate, despite a high latitude just outside the Arctic Circle. Its high latitude and marine influence keep summers chilly, with most of the archipelago having a polar climate. Iceland has a market economy with relatively low taxes, compared to other OECD countries, as well as the highest trade union membership in the world. It maintains a Nordic social welfare system that provides universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens. Iceland ranks high in economic, democratic, and social stability, as well as equality, ranking third in the world by median wealth per adult. In 2020, it was ranked as the fourth-most developed country in the world by the United Nations' Human Development Index, and it ranks first on the Global Peace Index. Iceland runs almost completely on renewable energy. Hit hard by the worldwide financial crisis, the nation's entire banking system systemically failed in October 2008, leading to an economic crisis and the collapse of the country's three largest banks. The crisis prompted substantial political unrest, the Icesave dispute, and the institution of capital controls (imposed in 2008 and lifted in 2017). By 2014, the Icelandic economy had made a significant recovery, due in large part to a surge in tourism. Icelandic culture is founded upon the nation's Scandinavian heritage. Most Icelanders are descendants of Norse and Gaelic settlers. Icelandic, a North Germanic language, is descended from Old West Norse and is closely related to Faroese. The country's cultural heritage includes traditional Icelandic cuisine, Icelandic literature, and medieval sagas. Iceland has the smallest population of any NATO member and is the only one with no standing army, with a lightly armed coast guard. |

Strategy[]
Build Electronic Factories in all of your cities, and Justify on Ireland and
Denmark. When the factories are almost done, buy 8
Gold and 8
Copper, and sell all
Electronics to AIs. Make as many troops as you can, and declare war on
Ireland. Use your troops to conquer
Ireland (make sure to use A.I. Luring). Now, build a steel and a motor factory in your mainland, buy the required resources and wait for unrest in Dublin to go down. Make tanks in Dublin, and go conquer
Denmark, then you can either go colonizing Africa or to form your formables.
Or if you want to be defensive-Switzerland type of player, make 2 electronic factories, buy 4 gold and 4 copper to save money, and sell them to AI countries. Then, you should develop your cities as much as possible to max out taxes and manpower since Iceland doesn't make any resources. It is recommended to disband your home guard troops to save money but only do this if you know you're not going to get invaded. If someone is planning to invade you, use 50,000 manpower to defend, get an military leader, use 2,000 of the manpower, and the rest for a submarine. Don't forget to get some oil as an oil shortage would be really bad. Use the submarine to fight of any invading troops. If any of the troop manage to get to a city, your entrenched troops should fight them off. By then, you should have enough manpower for an destroyer. Buy one, and use it in case more troops are coming and they are spread out, or if a submarine is coming to counter your submarine. Try to muster more manpower for some extra troops and 3 units of anti-aircraft if the enemy has attackers. The enemy should have been raging and out of manpower, already white peaced, or have left the game. If they left the game, you have the option to invade their land. Make at least 80k troops, and get the land. Congrats! You just held of an invasion of a country that was at least 3x more powerful than you!
