Investments are special projects proposed by fictional companies to boost a city's industrial output and economic performance.
Each investment increases a city's development and/or infrastructure tier by one, may instantly construct a random factory, mine, shipyard, or airport, and applies a local modifier—either a boost to tax, resource, factory output, and/or population growth—on the affected city(s), lasting 180 or 365 days.
Investments were added on the April 3, 2025 Update, and was initially previewed by Hyperant on March 22, 2025.[1] Testing lasted for 12 days prior to release.
Overview[]

Overview that appears when hovering over the investment interface contents may vary
The investment interface, found in the Economy interface, displays a rotating list of time-limited city-based investment opportunities. These scale with the number of cities a nation controls, though not all cities will always have one available. Investments expire over time, and once enacted—via click or ⇧ Shift + Click—they apply immediately and last for their full duration. Each city can receive only one investment per year, but there is no limit to the number of investments that can be purchased, only if the requirements are met.
Investments grant unique bonuses based on type, such as increasing development and infrastructure tiers or boosting local tax income. While individual effects are modest, they are highly useful when applied to key cities, like square cities or resource-rich regions. Larger investments can sometimes affect multiple cities or megacities, but most are aimed at mid-sized cities, making them ideal in mid-to-late game stages for upgrading industrial output and development.
All investments have randomized costs, which scale by population and always require money and political power, with some also needing extra resources like Electronics or
Consumer Goods. Unaffordable investments are marked red and can be dismissed. Occasionally, corrupt companies may offer shady deals to complete projects at a lower cost. Accepting these comes with a corruption increase, which scales with the city's population. These offers are marked in red and should be accepted with caution.
