— Description of forming Italian Empire |
The Italian Empire is a transcontinental formable of Italy. It's based on the Italian Colonial Empire, and as such requires the few nations that the Empire controlled at its peak, which are, in their modern day counterparts;
Libya,
Eritrea,
Ethiopia, and
Somalia. Italy itself is also needed.
The user is awarded with the title Il Duce upon forming it. The title references Benito Mussolini, the most famous leader of the Empire, who was also the leader during World War II. The fascist party of Italy referred to him as "Il Duce", with Duce being an Italian rank, meaning "Leader".
History[]
Following the unification of Italy in 1861, the Italian state grew a strong agriculture and army, colonizing Eritrea and Somalia in 1890 and failing a conquest of Abyssinia (Modern day Ethiopia) in 1896. In 1911, Italy pursued an interest in Africa by declaring war on the Ottoman Empire, conquering the Ottoman vilayet of Tripolitania on Libya in 1912. Italy, despite being part of the Triple Alliance with Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, joined the Entente side of the Great War in 1915. The Italians, with a pathetic military, battled with the equally pathetic Austro-Hungarians in the northern alps, seeking to annex Trentino and unify all Italians. After the Great War, Italy had gained minor territory in the Alps, and an expansion of Italian Libya. These gains did not satisfy the Italian Empire who wished for more land from the many losses they took in the war, increasing fascist sentiments in the country, leading to Benito Mussolini overthrowing the monarchy and instating a fascist dictatorship in 1922. The Italian Empire would invade Ethiopia in 1935, followed by Albania in 1939. By then the Italian's weak military has been exhausted of resources, but Mussolini insisted that Italy would join the Axis Powers and enter World War II.
Mussolini started with his infamously laughable invasion of Greece, which the Greeks fought back the invasion and nearly took Italian Albania. Italy, along with Germany, launched a counterattack on April 6, 1941, ending the war in Greece. Italy, along with Bulgaria and Germany, jointly occupied Greece. Italy would then precede to lose in Libya and Ethiopia, eventually surrendering in 1943 to the Allies, thus ending the Italian Empire.

Switzerland in Europe. In Africa it borders the territories of
Algeria,
Chad,
Djibouti,
Egypt,

Niger,
South Sudan,
Sudan, and
Tunisia.
Threats[]
Egypt or a strong European power like
Germany,
France,
Spain or the
United Kingdom could expand into north Africa
and take
Libya.
- Any Arab or Islamic state attempting to form the
Arab League or the
Islamic Caliphate.
Ethiopia could form the
Ethiopian Empire and could expand into most of Africa
making them almost impossible to invade from Europe.
Strategy[]
- Firstly, get troops, and justify on the required nations of
Libya,
Eritrea,
Ethiopia, and
Somalia.
- Attack
Libya or
Eritrea. Be wary of
Egypt as they might take
Libya before you.
- Go all the way to the Horn of Africa and take out
Eritrea. It is very important that you take
Ethiopia quickly.
- If
Ethiopia is a player, simply put a submarine in the Red Sea to block any advancements they might make, and use 3-4 destroyers to assist a tank landing in the coast of
Eritrea, while also putting another destroyer at the gulf of
Somalia to trap your enemy. Once again be wary of any Arabic country as they might annex
Somalia to form the
Arab League. Simply rush a tank unit to their capital and split the unit from there to capture the rest.
- As
Italy should do, fortify the alps to hold off a invasion from
France or
Germany.
