The Kingdom of Romania was a constitutional monarchy that existed from 13 March/25 March 1881 with the crowning of prince Karl of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen as King Carol I, until 1947 with the abdication of King Michael I and the Romanian parliament's proclamation of the Romanian People's Republic.
From 1859 to 1877, Romania evolved from a personal union of two vassal principalities (Moldavia and Wallachia) under a single prince to an autonomous principality with a Hohenzollern monarchy. The country gained its independence from the Ottoman Empire during the 1877–1878 Russo-Turkish War (known locally as the Romanian War of Independence), after which it was forced to cede the southern part of Bessarabia in exchange for Northern Dobruja. The kingdom's territory during the reign of King Carol I, between 13/25 March 1881 and 27 September/10 October 1914 is sometimes referred to as the Romanian Old Kingdom, to distinguish it from "Greater Romania", which included the provinces that became part of the state after World War I (Bessarabia, Banat, Bukovina, and Transylvania). With the exception of the southern halves of Bukovina and Transylvania, these territories were ceded to neighboring countries in 1940, under the pressure of Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. Following the abolishment of the 1923 constitution by King Carol II in 1938, the Kingdom of Romania became an absolute monarchy, only to become a military dictatorship under Ion Antonescu in 1940 after the forced abdication of King Carol II, with his successor, King Michael I being a figurehead with no effective political power. The country's name was changed to Legionary Romania. The disastrous World War II campaign on the side of the Axis powers led to King Michael's Coup against Ion Antonescu in 1944, as a result of which the Kingdom of Romania became a constitutional monarchy again and switched sides to the Allies, recovering Northern Transylvania. The influence of the neighbouring Soviet Union and the policies followed by Communist-dominated coalition governments ultimately led to the abolition of the monarchy, with Romania becoming a Soviet satellite state as the People's Republic of Romania on the last day of 1947. |

Geography[]
Terrain[]
The northwestern tile containing the cities of Oradea and Zalău is Hilly. Then, the area southeast of the Carpathian Mountains and north of the Romanian capital is Semi-Mountainous. Lastly, the Carpathian Mountain tiles are Mountainous. The rest of the formable is flat.
Biome[]
The Kingdom of Romania has no permanent biome, and remains in the normal biome for much of the year. However, during November and February, Moldavia and most of Transylvania, with the exception of the Banat region, which stays in the normal biome, experiences Mild Winter. In December-January, the rest of the formable (including Banat) experiences Mild Winter, while Moldavia and the rest of Transylvania experiences Severe Winter.
Cities[]
The Kingdom of Romania has a total of 49 core cities, with the capital being a square city and with 2 having an airport.
Strategy[]
Starting Moves[]
Once you join, immediately start justifying on Moldova and
Ukraine, as
Russia, who is almost always a player, is likely to be quick to pounce on those countries. If Ukraine is a player, then ask Russia if you can both partition Ukraine. If Russia rejects, continue justifying anyway, as you will finish your objective quickly due to you bordering your Ukrainian requirements, meaning Russia will be unlikely to reach those in time. In the meantime, build a steel manufactory, a motor factory, and 2 electronics factories, and buy the necessary resources to upkeep these factories. Then, spawn at least 50k troops near the Moldovan border and send your home guard there as well. Sell 5 electronics (AIs will not accept an amount greater than this number) to a country currently not buying them, preferably a super or major power (if there's no major powers not buying electronics left, try to see if you can sell them to a country buying them or sell them to random countries and hope they accept). You should sell them to at least 3 countries.
War With Moldova[]
Once the justifications are done, immediately start justifying on Bulgaria, and declare war on
Moldova. Take out the Moldovan home guards via AI Luring, and rush your home guard to the capital of Chișinău. Then, simply auto-capture it and annex it. Then, move your units to your border with
Budjak and near Chernivtsi to prepare for the next step, the war with
Ukraine. Also, build up at least 800-1k tanks in your square city of Bucharest to help in the war effort.
War With Ukraine[]
If Ukraine is a Player[]
Now that your units are properly stationed, wait for Russia to go to war with
Ukraine. If Ukraine is a player, they will likely station their units at the Russian border. Once Russia declares war, declare war on Ukraine. Take the necessary cities and aid in the collapse of Ukraine (you might want to do this while taking Bulgaria, so that you can form before Russia justifies on you, which is likely, after the war finishes). Once it does so, annex the cities required for the formable.
If Ukraine is AI[]
If Ukraine is an AI, then do the same mobilization process mentioned in the previous scenario with your units and declare war on Ukraine, AI Lure its home guard, and simply auto-capture it. To avoid unnecessary losses in the war, steer clear of Kyiv, as it will be more difficult to capture do to its size. Then, once Ukraine has less than 10% of their cities left, force peace it.
War With Bulgaria[]
If You're the Sole Invader[]
For your war in Bulgaria, simply AI Lure the Bulgarian home guard with infantry. Once its home guard leaves the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, immediately rush at least 400-600 tanks to the city to capture it. Then, simply auto-capture Bulgaria, and once it capitulates, annex the required territory.
If Another Nation Begins Invading[]
If another nation starts to take Bulgaria, declare war on Bulgaria and rush a few infantry units or a tank unit to capture the required city of Dobrich. Wait for the other invading power to finish off the rest of Bulgaria, or take more of Bulgarian land if you want to. Afterwards, annex the required lands.
Congratulations, you have restored the Kingdom of Romania!
Threats[]
Russia annexing
Ukraine, or if you partition Ukraine, Russia declaring war on you to take the rest of the Ukrainian lands.
- Ukraine taking all or some of
Moldova. (Though you need Ukrainian territory to be able to form this anyway, Ukraine still poses a threat due to its manpower advantage.)
- Any Balkan nation taking
Bulgaria, especially
Greece or the powerful
Turkey.
Trivia[]
- Due to the absence of a tile representing it in-game, the Silistra Province is missing from the Kingdom of Romania, making its borders inaccurate. Another inaccuracy is that it includes
Transnistria of
Moldova, which
Romania only owned in Operation Barbarossa.
- The custom alert button is likely a reference to a common racist stereotype about Romanians that they steal things (particularly wallets).[1]
