The Kingdom of Ruthenia, also known as Galicia—Volhynia was a medieval state that existed from the 13th to the 14th century in Eastern Europe. It was formed through the union of Galicia and Volhynia, two territories located in present-day Ukraine, Poland, and Belarus.
This kingdom played a significant role in the region during its existence. It reached its peak under the reign of King Daniel of Ruthenia, encompassing parts of modern-day Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary.
Culturally diverse, the Kingdom of Ruthenia was influenced by Polish, Ruthenian, and Hungarian traditions. Its ruling dynasty, the Rurikids, claimed descent from the legendary Viking prince Rurik, giving it connections to other European ruling houses.

Carpathian Rus forms this formable is due to the fact that the predecessor of the Rusyns, who make up a Majority of the Carpathian population, were the White Croatians, who themselves made up the core of the Galician Nobility.
