This article is about Military Leaders. You may be looking for Political Leaders or Military Leaders/Traits.

Military leaders, also known as generals for the army, admirals for the navy, and marshals for the air, are officers who enhance various modifiers of units within their assigned military group.

Recruiting any leader costs 300 military power, and they must be assigned to their specialized branch of the armed forces. For example, a general, who focuses on ground warfare, can only interact with ground units, such as infantry and tanks, and not other types, such as battleships and bombers.

Despite the standardized costs for all leaders, each leader has unique, randomized bonus percentages. If one is not satisfied with any provided leaders, they must wait until January 1 of the subsequent year, as that is when the recruitment list resets, providing a new list of 12 leaders (four leaders per category) along with randomly generated names. These names are based on the country they serve.[1]

Unfortunately, it is possible for leaders to die, primarily during combat and sometimes during standard training. Upon death, the military power spent to recruit them is not restored or compensated.

Ranks and Experience[]

Military leaders gain experience through various modifiers (see 'Ways to boost Military Leader EXP' section below). With increasing experience, leaders accumulate higher ranks. As their rank increases, their base buffs, including Attack, Defense, and XP Bonus, also increase. Additionally, leaders voluntarily acquire new types of traits, dependent on their branch, such as army, naval, or air traits.

Currently, there are 15 ranks in total, and five for each type.

Attributes[]

Base Buffs[]

Base buffs consist of three inherent modifiers—attack, defense, and XP bonus—that universally apply to all military leaders. However, each leader has varying percentages for each buff. Additionally, the percentage of these buffs can increase as the leader levels up to their subsequent rank.

Type Feature
Attack Upgrades the damage infliction towards an enemy division during combat
Defense Reduces the amount of damage inflicted by enemy forces.
XP Bonus Upgrades XP bonus for units while sieging cities or engaging in combat against enemy divisions.

Inherent Traits[]

As a leader is promoted to their next rank, they can receive an upgrade by obtaining a new trait.

Strategies[]

Ways to boost Military Leader EXP[]

  • Engage in combat during war.
  • Initiate standard training for the leader's assigned group.
  • Split divisions into smaller units and train them simultaneously, with ideally at most 21 divisions for optimal experience gain.
    • Experienced players in VIP events often employ this strategy before a major war begins, as splitting troops into fragments and training them simultaneously accelerates leader experience gain due to increased XP generation.
  • Conduct sieges and capture enemy or friendly cities during wartime.
  • Increase Military Spending levels. More readiness boosts experience gain.
  • Adopt the Military Planning (Static Lines) doctrine to increase military leader experience gain by 1.1x (+10%), or the Grand Battle Plan (Manoeuvre Warfare) for a 1.5x (+50%) increase.
  • Utilize the Loyalist Military Academies national modifier, which boosts Military Leader XP Gain by +10%.

Trivia[]

  • Military leaders are loosely based on the game Europa Universalis IV , where generals are randomly assigned attributes.
  • Military leaders were introduced in the Generals Update, which was released on July 31, 2020.
  • Military leaders underwent significant changes during the 10/25/2023 Major Update:
    • Leaders received secondary attributes, also known as traits.
    • The inherent movement buff was removed and is now only obtainable through traits.
    • The probability of death during training was significantly lowered. However, the chances of dying in combat remain high, especially for army leaders commanding large military groups.
    • The highest naval officer rank, "Marshal of the Airforce," was renamed to "Air Chief Marshal." "Group Captain" was introduced as the first rank, and all subsequent levels above Group Captain were moved up.
      • The removal of the "Marshal of the Airforce" rank may stem from the fact that this title typically represents a high-ranking officer serving in ceremonial or honorary roles, rather than actively engaged in military service. In contrast, "Air Chief Marshal" is a high-ranking, four-star officer who actively participates in military operations.[2][3]
