Nauru is a Tier 1 Central Pacific Nation, barely south of the Equator, which can be represented by the thin yellow stripe on its National Flag with Nauru being the star. It is a member of the United Nations and the Commonwealth of Nations and is currently the 3rd smallest country in the world (excluding overseas territories and colonies). Larger than that of Vatican City and Monaco. Nauru is ranked 223rd out of 239 when starting out.
Background[]
Nauru was an island first explored by Micronesians in 1,000BC whom came from Micronesian Islands and surrounding areas. There were traditionally 12 tribes of Nauru, which is represented on the flag as a 12-point star. In 1798, the captain John Fearn of the Hunter, a British merchant ship spotted Nauru. A civil war later broke out in 1878 that lasted 10 years between rebels and the King of Nauru with the Germans siding with the King. In 1888 the island would be annexed as a colony on the German Empire. In World War I, Nauru was taken by the Empire of Japan after it was given permission to annex the German Pacific colonies. After the Treaty of Versailles, Nauru was apart of the League of Nations, administered by Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. In World War II, Nauru was at the forefront of the advancing American army using their iconic "island hopping" strategy where they would invade small islands, slowly getting closer to Japan. It was invaded by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1942 and annexed into the Empire of Japan. In 1943, the American Army bombed the only 2 airfields on the island, thereby isolating the island and cutting its citizens from any food or supplies from entering. America claimed it as an occupied American Pacific Territory as it slowly advanced to Japan. Never have been invaded it was slowly choked out of Japanese occupation. After World War II, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom would have joint rule over the island, although Australia was the only country to do anything. Riots broke out in 1948 with Chinese miners on the island going on strike over low pay and harsh working conditions. In 1964, Australia proposed that the island be evacuated and its citizens incorporated into Australia as the intense mining and farming on the island was deemed inhabitable by the 1990s. January of 1966, Nauru was given full independence and they swiftly cleaned up the island and took control of the mines. The low population and high output of the mines meant that the citizens were some of the richest of the Cold War era. |
Base Statistics[]
Economy[]
Nauru has a very limited economy making it extremely difficult to invade others without help from other nations. The starting city gives $100,711, a maxed Tier VIII (8) city will yield $453,204 income with airports pushing that even further. Nauru only has 1 city making it extremely tough to invade others successfully. It is not uncommon for the economy to go into debt due to its low treasury at the start of a game
Resources[]
There are no resources on Nauru. Phosphate would be a great addition to the island as in real life there are large phosphate deposits there.
Military[]
Nauru starts with 20,000 infantry as the home guard and has base 60,000 MP. The conscription laws do not apply to Nauru thus the most beneficial would be disarmed as it yields an extra 5% income

Strategy[]
(See below for a guide from the start of a game.) LATE GAME
- For optimum outcomes or success, it is recommended to start in a mostly empty server with at most 3 players and the year being as late as possible.
- Befriend the players and ask for money or free materials. Try and get as much out of them as possible
- Spend all research on Tax Income or Research Power/Stability
- Make sure the stability stays above 50% with no matter the cost as the more powerful nations are keeping you afloat
- Bulk buy 5100 Steel and build a Shipyard
- Build Shipyard II and order a battleship (You are by far in a deficit now)
- Delete if needed to stay out of debt or develop your 1 city if haven't done so already
- Develop the city as much as possible, this will give you heaps more breathing room financially,
- Meanwhile justify on a stronger AI nation in the area (Australia is recommended)
- Declare war on them and use the Battleship to erase their military
- Set the MP to limited and set the land doctrines to Massed Attack
- Send in 60k infantry troops to clean up the remaining army and seize the cities
- Stop and regenerate the troops if needed or send in more if the financial capacity is there
- Slowly overrun the country and annex it as well as seize as much treasury and resources as possible.
- This becomes a normal playthrough of Australia once integration is finished and any releasable (if any have been released) are conquered
EARLY GAME Caution: This strategy has not been tested and no guarantee this will work. Please replace this if it doesn't work!!!!
- Ally the strong player countries in the region (Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea)
- White peace if dragged into any wars
- Develop your 1 city as much as possible, in theory should create a max income of approx. 500k
- Build an airport to push income as much as possible (optional)
- Spend all research ensuring stability is increasing or on Tax Income
- Once at an income of above 1 million, bulk buy 5100 steel to build Shipyard II
- Order a Battleship and justify on small Pacific Islands, using the ship to destroy the enemy home guard.
- Use the home guard to clean up the remaining military and annex the island, seizing as many resources and money as possible
- Once here you have multiple options, any option will be good:
- Create a Pacific-Empire by annexing all island in the area
- Invade Australia or South East Asia, provided that they are AI or a known strategy is employed to defeat such player
- Invade South America once Rapa Nui is taken
- Invade Japan provided its not a player or greifed beyond repair
