Roblox Rise of Nations Wiki

The Netherlands is a Tier III nation in Western Europe . It has a very rich history. It is a very small yet dense starting nation and begins at rank 54.

Background[]

The people who live in the Netherlands are called the Dutch. The land was originally inhabited by Germanic tribes. A portion of the land became a Roman province that was conquered by Julius Caesar in the first century BC. Later, the land became part of the Kingdom of the Franks, the House of Valois-Burgundy, and eventually became part of the Holy Roman Empire.

In the 16th Century the land came under Spanish Rule and the Dutch revolted. Their leader was Willem of Orange and in 1581 the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands was formed.

During the 17th century, the Netherlands became an international power known for its strong navy. The Dutch Empire expanded throughout the world through various colonies on nearly every continent, originally It was being trade-based system which derived most of its influence from merchant enterprise and from Dutch control of international maritime shipping routes through strategically placed outposts, rather than being a territorial expansion overlord like France and The United Kingdom. The Netherlands is regarded by many historians to be the first capitalist country in the world. In early modern Europe, it had the wealthiest trading city (Amsterdam) and the first full-time stock exchange. Also during this time, the arts in Netherlands was at its peak with notable artists such at Rembrandt and Vermeer.

In later years, Dutch power declined. Wars with Spain, France, and the United Kingdom weakened the country.

In the 1900s, the Netherlands tried to stay neutral during both World Wars. They managed to avoid getting involved in the First World War, but in World War II, they were occupied by Nazi Germany. The Dutch Jews were almost wiped out by the Germans. Over 75 percent of the 140,000 Jewish people that lived in the Netherlands were killed by the Germans as part of the Holocaust. A famous Jewish girl, Anne Frank, wrote of hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam before getting captured and taken to a concentration camp to be executed.

After World War II, most of the Netherland's remaining colonies were granted independence.

Strategy[]

If Your Position is Secured[]

At the start of the game, you should justify on Belgium and Luxembourg to form the Benelux. You should ally a superpower and a regional power such as America, the UK, Germany, and France. Industrialize, and build 2-3 electronics factories and a steel and motor factory. Invade and annex the Benelux region. Afterwards, try to expand into Scandinavia if possible. It is recommended that you go overseas since you have very little in Europe to grab. If you are allied with a regional power they will provide you with more options in Europe , and you could grab some resources from their wars.

If France or Germany Invades[]

If you foresee a possible invasion from France or Germany, then quickly form the Benelux, and make as many tanks as possible, and station them all in Amsterdam. You should also make a destroyer and artillery units, if possible. If someone takes part of the Benelux. then you should abandon trying to get it. If there is another Benelux nation, instead of trying to invade them, convince them to join your cause and ally you. Due to them likely being in the same situation, they will likely accept. Also, build fortifications in various cities. The enemy units might be close to or rush your units. If the case is the former, your artillery and possibly your destroyer will pick them off. If it is the latter, attempt to move your artillery away from the incoming charge, and pick their units off at a safe distance and aiding your destroyer and other ground units defend the city. If your defense holds out, and the French or German giant can't continue the war effort, then you can perform a counter-offensive. If only one of them is attacking, ally the nation that is not provoking you. If they accept the request, request them to join the war. They might accept the offer due to them also wanting a slice of your enemy's big land.

If the United Kingdom Invades[]

Due to Britannia ruling the waves, a British player will definitely support his naval landings and pick off your units with their navy. Due to this, you should build artillery and make a navy of your own, even if it's a fraction of the size of the British Navy. You should also ally and call nations like France or Germany into the war, France especially, due to the prospect of a stability boost via the Franco-British Union. Along with these defense measures, perform the same tactics to defend your nation as mentioned in the French-German Invasion strategy. With all of these prospects combined, you could land on the British shores, and make the sun set on them for good.
