— Description of forming North Sea Empire |
The North Sea Empire is one of the 14 formables added in the October 2019 Skin Update. It is a formable of 4 Scandinavian nations and the United Kingdom, and as the name suggests, it is located on North Sea. This formable could be probably one of the strongest defensive nations in Europe
. Strong navy can be made as the North Sea Empire has a lot of coasts and ports and holds numerous islands. Also, it produces a lot of titanium and iron in Scandinavian
Norway, plus, Norwegian mountains are great for defensive action.
The North Sea Empire used to require the Netherlands and
Belgium. However, on January 14, 2020, both countries were removed from the North Sea Empire requirements because it was historically inaccurate.
Before the Biome-Event Update on December 22, 2020, the North Sea Empire was one of the easier formables to be formed in Europe, due to the countries required, barring Norway, had very little competition or none at all. As a result, many British players were able to form the North Sea Empire by 2021. However, after the Biome-Event Update, the formable became one of the hardest ones to be formed in Europe, due to Norway now being one of the hardest countries to be invaded with the introduction of Biomes, and the fact that the German Reich being removed, means that a German player could turn their attention to Norway and
Denmark first.
It borders Ireland,
Sweden,
Finland,
Russia, and
Germany.
Forming this formable awards you with the Viking title.
Background[]
The North Sea Empire, also known as the Anglo-Scandinavian Empire was a political entity that existed during the late 10th and early 11th centuries. It was a union of several kingdoms and territories in Northern Europe , including
Denmark,
Norway,
England, and parts of
Sweden.
The North Sea Empire began with the reign of Cnut the Great, a Danish Viking who conquered England in 1016 and later became king of Denmark and Norway as well. Under his rule, the North Sea Empire reached its peak, with Cnut controlling a vast territory that included much of Scandinavia and the British Isles.
After Cnut's death in 1035, the North Sea Empire quickly fell apart as his sons fought for control of the various kingdoms. By the mid-11th century, the empire had dissolved and the individual kingdoms had returned to their previous borders and rulers.
Economy and Manpower[]
The North Sea Empire has a starting income of $2,899,740. It has a maximum manpower cap of 856,926 and it gains 4608 manpower daily. Most of the income and manpower come from the UK, as it is the biggest nation required in this formable.
Resources[]
The North Sea Empire generates a large number of resources every turn. These are:
Geography[]
Terrain[]
The formable contains mountains all over its territory. The Semi-Mountainous terrain covers, Iceland, mainland
Scotland, and the northern tip of mainland
Norway. The only Mountainous areas are in the rest of
Norway except for the area surrounding Oslo. The rest of the terrain is flat, including the one-city islands.
Biome[]
The North Sea Empire's biome is very cold. In December-January, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland experience Mild Winter. Other than the mentioned territories, mainland
Scotland,
Denmark, and southern
Norway are covered in Severe Winter during these months. In the rest of the winter months, however, all territories with Mild Winter are the normal biome, and the lands with Severe Winter are Mild Winter. After the winter months, it obviously doesn't snow, and the snowy areas are all changed into the normal biome. It also has a permanent biome, Arctic. This spans
Iceland, and northern and central Norway, including the island of Spitsbergen. The rest of the areas not mentioned only have the normal biome, which are just the one-city islands.
Cities[]
The North Sea Empire has a total of 105 cities, which gives it a population of 35,216,209. Its capital varies because of multiple nations being able to form the North Sea Empire.
Strategy[]
The best country to form this as is the United Kingdom, due to its strength and lack of threats. Therefore, the below strategies will only be valid for a British player:
Starting Moves[]
First, build 2-3 electronics factories, research your factory output, and sell as many electronics to rich AI nations. Next, build a steel, motor, and fertilizer factory, not for building tanks, as they will be mostly obsolete for this strategy, but to supply your civilian factories, which will improve your stability. After the construction of the first three factories, build as many civilian factories as necessary for your stability. Meanwhile, send 100k troops to Denmark, then the
Faroe Islands.
Invasion of Norway[]
If Norway is AI[]
An AI Norway won't be a problem for the
United Kingdom. After this, things get a bit tricky. It is imperative you spam troops and use up your manpower reserves for your Norwegian invasion, as they perform the best in its harsh geography. Once they spawn, train these troops in mountainous terrain, as this will help for Iceland too. Also, you should definitely research into the mobility of your infantry, and/or hire a general that offers a movement buff, but it is recommended to make sure they don't have a debuff aswell. Then, move all your troops to the western Norwegian coastline. Form a line with these troops, so you can reach as many parts as possible of Norway as fast as possible. If you need to, recruit more troops, and strategically send them to any areas and cities your previous units are struggling to capture due to them being most likely wearied and beaten by the invasion. Repeat this process, and force peace Norway.
If Norway is a Player[]
If Norway is a player, then do everything explained above, except blockade with battleships first, so whenever they make new troops, they will instantly be bombarded. Also, have a unit of many infantries attack the weakened Norwegians defending Oslo, and take the capital, which could make them rage quit, or if not, at least severely weaken their war effort.
The Invasion of Iceland[]
Iceland is a fairly easy to country to conquer but is very tedious and time consuming due to its geography, so it won't make much of a difference whether you use infantry or tanks. For the first three southern cities, it is recommended to capture them purely with infantry. For the northern city, Akureyi, it is recommended to use a single tank unit for this, as likely due to a bug, your tanks will stop taking attrition, and will be reduced 47 of them, which is barely enough to capture Akureyi. While your tanks were travelling to Akureyi, your infantry will have likely captured the southern cities by now, and it will just be a matter of waiting to capture Akureyi.
After annexing all required countries, you can bring back the once lost Viking Age, and form the North Sea Empire!
Threats[]
You really wouldn't have any immediate and obvious threats forming the North Sea Empire directly, but because of multiple factors, you could be distracted enough to have trouble forming this formable. Here are the greatest threats to forming the North Sea Empire, in order:
Sweden and
Finland, who needs all of the required nations barring the
Faroe Islands and the
United Kingdom for the
Kalmar Union.
Germany, who can easily go after
Denmark and the Nordic States if it is done with its eastern affairs.
Norway, who can be a player and would need the
Faroe Islands and
Iceland for
Norgesveldet (Obviously if you are not
Norway).
France, who needs the
United Kingdom for the
Franco-British Union.
- The
USA, who can go after
Iceland or even
Britain to invade all of Europe.
Russia, who can go after the Nordic countries once they are done forming one of their formables.
