Roblox Rise of Nations Wiki

Norway is a Tier II nation located in the Scandinavian region of Europe, that borders Sweden, Finland, Russia, and has a very long coast on the Norwegian Sea.

Before the Biome-Event update on December 22, 2020, Norway was one of the most vulnerable nations to be invaded despite of its extremely mountainous terrain due to it containing the extremely rare resource of Titanium, one of the only few countries to produce it. After the Biome-Event update, Norway's geography was significantly buffed, and it's now one of the most difficult countries to invade due to Svalbard having a city (Longyearbyen) and the whole nation subjected to Severe Winter in December–January. In addition, the entire northern half of the country is classified as an Arctic Biome, making any sort of invasion either a failure or very costly.

Background[]

Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a country of northern Europe that occupies the western half of the Scandinavian peninsula. Nearly half of the inhabitants of the country live in the far south, in the region around Oslo, the capital. About two-thirds of Norway is mountainous, and off its much-indented coastline lie, carved by deep glacial fjords, some 50,000 islands.

Indo-European peoples settled Norway's coast in antiquity, establishing a permanent settlement near the present capital of Oslo some 6,000 years ago. The interior was more sparsely settled, owing to extremes of climate and difficult terrain, and even today the country's population is concentrated in coastal cities such as Bergen and Trondheim. Dependent on fishing and farming, early Norwegians developed a seafaring tradition that would reach its apex in the Viking era, when Norse warriors regularly raided the British Isles, the coasts of western Europe, and even the interior of Russia; the Vikings also established colonies in Iceland and Greenland and explored the coast of North America (which Leif Eriksson called Vinland) more than a thousand years ago. This great tradition of exploration by such explorers as Leif Erikkson and his father, Erik the Red, continued into modern times, exemplified by such men as Fridtjof Nansen, Roald Amundsen, and Thor Heyerdahl. Weakened by plague and economic deterioration in the late Middle Ages and dominated by neighboring Denmark and Sweden, Norwegians turned to trading in fish and lumber, and modern Norway, which gained its independence in 1905, emerged as a major maritime transporter of the world's goods as well as a world leader in specialized shipbuilding. Between 1918 and 1935, Norway had nine governments which were mostly minority ones. This period saw a rise of support for the Conservative Party. During World War II, Norway was invaded by Nazi Germany. From 1940 to 1945, Norway's government was in exile in London. Following the war, there was a legal purge in which 53,000 people were sentenced for treason and 25 were executed. Norway joined the Marshall Plan and received $400 million US dollars in aid and later became a founding member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, in 1949. In the 1970s the exploitation of offshore oil and natural gas became the major maritime industry, with Norway emerging in the 1990s as one of the world's leading petroleum exporters.

Geography[]

Norway is notorious for being one of the hardest to invade geographically. The entire North Sea coastline is classified as mountainous terrain, with only some land in the very north being classified as Semi-mountainous, and the capital area around Oslo being hilly. After the Biome-Event update, Norway's biome became its greatest advantage - The entire northern half of the country is classified as Arctic Biome, and combined with the mountainous terrain, makes any invasion extremely costly. The rest of the country is subjugated to Severe Winter between December–January. Longyearbyen, an island north of Norway is also extremely hard to take but with some luck you can force peace it.

Formables[]

Norway can form the following formables:

Threats[]

Strategy[]

How to start off: When playing as Norway, like with any nation, you should start by building an electronic factory, this will boost your starting income significantly, as you can sell to AI. Your first targets should be Sweden and Denmark, as they have important resources, like oil. Afterwards, take Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Islands. This well help in forming later on, Greenland is also rich in resources.

Small expansions and building an army: Once the starting process is done, your goal is to form Kalmar Union. Start building an army, including tanks built with the resources you got from your first conquests. You want to build Steel and Motor Part factories with your recently obtained resources for tanks. Tanks will be useful with their speed and defensive/offensive capabilities. You should start building an army, specifically tanks, a big navy and Fighter planes. Pick good Military Doctrines, ideologies and policies like Air Supremacy, Limited conscription Laws, and Military service act.

How to defend Norway: Against troop spammers you should scorch cities and have entrenched troops. However, if your enemy is using a navy, airforce, and such, do the following: With your sizeable army, with your Fighter Planes, set out to use them for air supremacy and ground support-Destroyers will be used to support your troops in ground battles and escort battle ships., Tanks and Infantry will be used to defend your ground and take enemy terrain. Use Submarines to take out incoming troops. You should take enemy cities near the borders and scorch them. If you have frigates, use their speed to ambush far away troops, or bomb them. Use your battleships to assure sea dominance and support your ground units. Once your enemy runs out of MP or has High war exhaustion, you should use your tanks and Infantry that are still alive to take the enemy country.

Expansionism: If you managed to win against a big rival located in Europe, you should build an army to start expanding. Your main target should be the UK, to form Norgesveldet or the North Sea Empire. If you don't feel ready to take on UK, then you should start expanding into Europe. Your main targets should be nations such as France, which can be dominated by a big navy and air force. Otherwise, if those are strong, then take the Balkans.

Peace: During certain time periods you may want to pick the Neutrality Act. This will help you be safer and have longer times of peace. In these times of peace, develop your cities, build factories, and upgrade your mines. If during times of peace you have the Neutrality act, get high or maximum tax rates. In times of peace your goal is to improve your economy, and in turn your army.
