The Palmyrene Empire, also known as the Palmyrene Kingdom or the Kingdom of Palmyra, was a short-lived state that existed in the 3rd century CE in the ancient city of Palmyra, located in present-day Syria. The empire emerged as a result of the decline of the
Roman Empire during the Crisis of the Third Century.
Palmyra, an important caravan city along the trade routes linking the Roman Empire to the East, gained significant wealth and influence. Queen Zenobia, a Palmyrene noblewoman, played a central role in the establishment and expansion of the Palmyrene Empire. After the death of her husband, Odaenathus, Zenobia assumed regency for her young son, Vaballathus, and effectively became the ruler of Palmyra. Under Zenobia's leadership, the Palmyrene Empire expanded its territory, encompassing areas of modern-day Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and parts of Egypt. Zenobia sought to create an independent state that challenged Roman authority. She declared herself queen and claimed descent from Cleopatra of Egypt, emphasizing her Hellenistic and Semitic heritage. The Palmyrene Empire was known for its multicultural and cosmopolitan character. Palmyra was a hub of trade and commerce, and the city flourished under Zenobia's rule. The Palmyrenes adopted a syncretic culture that blended elements of Greco-Roman, Persian, and Arab traditions. The expansion of the Palmyrene Empire brought it into direct conflict with the Roman Empire. Emperor Aurelian launched a military campaign against Palmyra, ultimately capturing Zenobia in 272 CE. The empire was dissolved, and Palmyra was reintegrated into the Roman Empire. |

Cities and Population[]
The Palmyrene Empire has a total of 162 cities with 85,734,176 population.
Threats[]
Turkey is by far your biggest threat, as they almost always expand into
Syria and
Lebanon after
Greece.
Egypt is also a huge threat, as they need you for the
Khedivate of Egypt and
Mamluk Sultanate.
Saudi Arabia can also be a threat, as after they form the
Emirate of Diriyah they may expand into the rest of the Arab World.
Iran needs you for the
Persian Empire.
France needs you for their empire, and
Italy needs you to form the
Roman Empire.
Any Arab countries need you for the Arab League, and Islamic countries need you for the
Islamic Caliphate.
Strategy[]
The Palmyrene Empire is hard to form unless you are a good player.
Strategy A:
- First, ally both Turkey and Egypt. Wait for both of them to be AI and attack them. If the player is mediocre, you can attack them easily. If they don't want to be allies, I recommend you ally powerful countries around you such as Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
- If it backfires, do as much artillery and troops as possible. Develop and fortify cities. Train your troops at one city (preferably your capital) that is fortified.
- Take Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Syria first.
- Make some tanks.
- After making tanks, try to protect if Turkey and Egypt decide to invade you, and Saudi Arabia is busy forming
Emirate of Diriyah, and old Russia is in a fight with Mainland China or Germany. Strategy B: If you have a friend who also plays Rise of Nations have them play as Russia or India. This strategy can you help you Combat player and powerful countries to threaten to prevent your expansion.
