The in-game experience counter

The experience leaderboard as seen in the Lobby
Experience, or Experience Points (XP or EXP), is one of the primary player mechanics in Rise of Nations. Experience serves as a function for players to move more freely around the game, such as unlocking new titles and being able to play as superpower nations, such as China,
India, and the
United States. One can naturally and passively gain experience every five seconds (one tick) or through annexation of cities, though the XP multiplier varies for each country. The player's XP can be viewed at the top right of the screen in-game, and in the lobby, a leaderboard showing the top twelve users by the most experience currently in game is displayed.
It is important to note that experience does not denote skill level. For example, one can possibly grind XP consistently, in which they could still be considered inexperienced or incompetent despite the amount of EXP gained. Therefore, it is not recommended to attain your XP through such ineffective methods. Instead, the most efficient and reliable method to accumulate as much XP as possible is by joining public servers and proceed to mass annex a large number of cities with a lot of population, typically by starting as a small nation and growing from scratch.
Experience charts[]
As previously mentioned in the upper paragraphs, various titles and all superpower nations can be unlocked upon reaching a sufficient amount of player experience.

XP Gain Modifier[]
Tier VII[]
Tier VII countries represent the three primary superpowers globally, boasting unmatched strength in terms of their economy, population, territory, and military power. They possess the most powerful military capacities, with a manpower reserve exceeding 4,000,000 individuals, and their substantial population surpasses 200,000,000, as sprawling cities and vast metropolitan areas are dispersed throughout their lands. Additionally, these begin with a base income of over 15 million, built by high tax revenue and resource income. They have 0.11x XP Gain Modifier.
Due to the nations marked as the "big three" on the global stage, each of these nations require at least over 100,000 XP to play as: 144,338 XP for India, 176,777 XP for the
United States, and 250,000 XP for
China. Despite the XP limitations, the ranking system orders the nations from greatest to least during the beginning of 2019: United States (1st), China (2nd), and India (3rd).

Tier I[]
Tier I nations are the weakest countries in the game. The maximum manpower capacity is 60,000, tax collection is minimal, and base population is small. These countries are mostly islands or landlocked nations located in isolated areas across the world, but despite this, it is still possible to conquer quickly and emerge to world domination, though it is rare and difficult to do so. They have 2.5x XP Gain Modifier.

Experience Formula and Notes[]
Formula[]
Experience is calculated by formula: , meaning annexing all of China as a country with 2.5x XP modifier such as
Luxembourg nets you around 89,751 XP.
Notes[]
- During wars, you earn your XP from capturing cities only after the annexation treaty is signed. For example, if one annexed
China, they would only receive their XP after the cities are captured successfully.
- The bigger the nation, the lower the XP bonus. Plus, these weak nations are often spared if they are not part of a formable.
- You get 1 XP from simply playing the game every five seconds, but the XP gain is modified by the nations XP modifier.
Experience in the Discord[]
The game has its own Discord server that people can join. If you send evidence, such as screenshots and/or videos, of you possessing 1,000,000 or 10,000,000 XP to a Discord Moderator, you are eligible to receive the "Dedicated Player" and "Grandmaster" role, respectively.
Trivia[]
- Player experience gained in a VIP/Private Server will not save. Additionally, the XP Multiplier seen in public servers are reduced by -33% in a private server. However, before an unknown update private servers formerly saved player experience gain.
