Poland is a non-aligned, Tier IV nation in Central Europe . Despite being bordered by
Germany and
Russia, It's still possible for it to become a dominant power.
Background[]
The history of Poland spans over a thousand years. The roots of Polish history can be traced to the iron Age, when the territory of present-day Poland was settled by various tribes including Celts, Scythians, Germanic clans, Sarmatians, Slavs and Balts. The Lechitic Western Polans, a tribe whose name means "people living in open fields", dominated the region, and gave Poland - which lies in the North-Central European Plain - its name. There were many ruling dynasties, but the period of the Jagiellonian dynasty in the 14th–16th centuries brought close ties with Lithuania, a cultural Renaissance in Poland and continued territorial expansion as well as Polonization that culminated in the establishment of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1569, one of Europe's largest countries. The Commonwealth was able to sustain the levels of prosperity. Significant internal reforms were introduced in the late 18th century, such as Europe's first Constitution of 3 May 1791, but neighboring powers did not allow the reforms to advance. The existence of the Commonwealth ended in 1795 after a series of invasions and partitions of Polish territory carried out by the Russian Empire in the east, the Kingdom of Prussia in the west and the Habsburg Monarchy in the south. From 1795 until 1918, no independent Polish state existed. The opportunity to regain sovereignty only materialized after World War I, when the three partitioning imperial powers were fatally weakened in the wake of war and revolution. The Second Polish Republic was established in 1918 and existed as an independent state until 1939, when Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland, marking the beginning of World War II. Poland gained independence but was soon going to be a puppet state of the Soviet Union. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Poland was freed, and wanting to stay away from the Russians, joined NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in 1999. Poland then later joined the European Union in 2004. |

Geography[]
Terrain[]

Poland's Terrain
Poland is located in the center of the large and flat European Plain, which offers little in terms of strategic advantage. As a result, most of Poland is flat, with only the cities of Kraków and Rzeszów situated in Hilly terrain.
Biome[]
Poland has no biomes throughout most of the year but receives seasonal winter biomes with most of its territory covered with Mild Winter in November and February, with the exception of the tiles of the West Pomeranian and Lubusz voivodeships, which remains having no biome. In December and January, however, the Mild Winter areas transition to Severe Winter, while the aforementioned two voivodeships experience Mild Winter.

Formables[]
Poland can form the following:
Threats[]
Poland is one of the most vulnerable nations in the game, due to it being sandwiched between different major powers. It's major threat is Germany which almost always annexes it early game due to its relative weakness and large territory. Other threats include:
Russia expanding further into Europe. If Germany isn't a player or decides not to take Poland, Russia likely will.
Ukraine or
Belarus attempting to form
Intermarium and become stronger in their struggle against Russia.
Czech Republic invading Poland to form
Zapadoslavia, or
Great Moravia given that they survive or avoid a German Invasion.
Slovakia may also invade Poland for the same two formables.
- Although very rare,
Lithuania may invade Poland to form the
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
- Other countries in Western Europe
such as
France or
Italy may invade Poland if they have already allied or invaded
Germany.
- Any European player looking to form the
European Union.
Strategy[]
Defending Against Germany[]
When playing as Poland, you're at a huge disadvantage, as you are an easy way for Germany to increase their power. Their huge population and multiple square cities make it easy for them to steamroll all of Europe if they're competent enough.
You should start trading for the resources you need to set up 2-3 electronics factories, and a Steel and motor factory. You need
Tungsten,
Steel,
Iron and
Titanium for motor factories and steel factories, and 6
Gold and
Copper for electronic factories, when you get the
Electronics from the factory, sell them in as much numbers as possible. Once you do that justify, on Germany. Once the justification is set, make tanks and declare war when they're made (It's okay if you go into deficit for a little while, but the deficit should not exceed $500,000.), try to defend as much of yourself as possible, though if the person playing Germany is good, you'd likely stand no chance. Back your tanks up with artillery if you see a huge stack of units forming and approaching. This strategy is unreliable as all strategies can be, depending on how others react and how good players are.
Forming the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth[]
One of the main challanges you may encounter is a stubborn Russia, who is looking to form their own formables, and probably won’t cede
Ukraine,
Lithuania, or
Belarus. You may get annexed by
Germany before you get the chance to even play. Ukraine can be attempting to form too. But you would need to build up your military extremely quickly and justify countries needed for both
Zapadoslavia and the
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Sometimes, Russia can ally you and go for
Kazakhstan. This can buy you time and annex Belarus, Lithuania, and Ukraine. Sometimes, A Russia player can cede the lands you need in order to form. They may not even ask for them back. These are all very uncommon so you must hope that Russia is getting invaded early on or not even a player. You basically need to go try hard mode if you want to form the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Any sort of strategy is just hard to create as realistically, even a below average user would beat a good user in these circumstances, try to take Ukraine and Belarus first before Russia and try to seem threatening, it's really the only possible way.
Forming Intermarium from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth[]
Intermarium is harder to achieve, as the Balkans usually get taken by
Greece,
Italy,
Turkey, or even
Romania, who is required to form Intermarium. The Carpathian mountains are also a challange to traverse through.
Finland has the Arctic biome. You just need to be lucky, and all of these countries are annexed by a trusted ally of yours or if they have collapsed. The strategy would be to rush taking any country that is needed for a common formable to form, same way as before. A way to significantly increase your chances are to join an old server
Forming the European Union from Intermarium[]
Once the Intermarium is formed,
Italy is a prime target to set up a base in Western Europe
, Italy should be easy to invade if it's an AI, but if it isn't, then go for the Scandinavian countries as their home guard is only 20k. At this point, you should colonize Africa, or go through the Middle East to Africa. After you’ve controlled Eastern Europe, you should be able to go on a rampage in Western Europe. After the campaign, you can slowly but surely, form the
European Union.
