The Rattanakosin Kingdom, also known as the Kingdom of Siam, refers to the period from 1782 to 1932 in the history of Thailand.
The Rattanakosin Kingdom was established in 1782 by King Rama I, also known as King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, after the fall of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya to the Burmese in 1767. The kingdom's capital was established in Bangkok, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The name "Rattanakosin" refers to the island on which the city of Bangkok was built. During this period, the Rattanakosin Kingdom experienced significant political, cultural, and territorial developments. The Chakri Dynasty, the current ruling dynasty of Thailand, was founded by King Rama I, and subsequent kings, including King Rama IV (King Mongkut) and King Rama V (King Chulalongkorn), played pivotal roles in modernizing and reforming the kingdom. Under King Rama IV and King Rama V, the Rattanakosin Kingdom underwent various reforms, including the abolition of slavery, the modernization of the administration and legal system, and the implementation of educational reforms. These efforts aimed to adapt to the changing global landscape and resist colonial pressures. In 1932, a bloodless revolution led to the transition from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. This event marked the end of the Rattanakosin Kingdom and the beginning of a new era in Thai history. The kingdom's name was changed to Thailand in 1939. The period of the Rattanakosin Kingdom (1782-1932) laid the foundation for modern Thailand, shaping its political structure, culture, and society. It is a significant period that saw the consolidation of the Thai monarchy, the modernization of the kingdom, and the response to external challenges. |
Threats[]
Vietnam,
Burma,
Japan,
Indonesia,
Thailand, the

China and
India expand into Southeast Asia.
Strategy[]
Burma[]
If you start as Burma, form the
Toungoo Dynasty as fast as possible. Justify on
Thailand,
Laos and
Cambodia. If
Vietnam is not a player, you should take Thailand first with 300k to 400k troops, then Laos an Cambodia. But if Vietnam is a player, you will have some competition. Conquer Laos as fast as possible with 150k to 250k troops, then take Cambodia. Vietnam will probably prep for war, use diplomacy or leave. If they go to war, capital snipe then white peace or keep going. After, lure out and kill Thailand's homeguard then take Thailand. Justify on
Malaysia and
Singapore, use artillery or navy to disintegrate Malaysia's homeguard, then take it. Also steamroll Singapore along the way.
Thailand[]
If you start as Thailand, take Laos with 120k to 200k troops to form Siam and take Cambodia to show Vietnam who's boss. Then who you take next depends on the other players. If the
Philippines,
Japan or
Indonesia are player controlled and look like they want Malaysia, justify on and take Malaysia and Singapore first, using Artillery or navy to kill their homeguard, or just use your troops. But if
India or
China looks interested in expanding into Burma, quickly nab that first with 170k to 250k troops. If you are an experienced player, you could try a two-front war.
Malaysia[]
If you start as Malaysia, first develop your cities and ally Indonesia if they are a player. Adopt the Military Service Act policy if need be. After that, if Vietnam has not done so already, justify on and take Cambodia and Laos with 350k to 420k troops. This is to stop Vietnam from forming the Nguyen dynasty and becoming a threat. While taking Laos, justify on Burma, Thailand and Singapore and make 70k to 100k troops and take Singapore. Then, choose if you want to lure out Burma's homeguard, kill it, and take Burma first, or pincer attack Thailand and claim that first. Keep in mind this is all during the best-case scenario, and if China, India or maybe even Japan decides that your existence is pointless, you will be eviscerated, or at the very least lose a good portion of basically everything. So be on guard, and if possible ally with one or two superpowers.
