The Republic of Venice, or Venetian Republic, traditionally known as La Serenissima, was a sovereign state and maritime republic in parts of the present-day Italian Republic that existed for 1,100 years from 697 until 1797. Centered on the lagoon communities of the prosperous city of Venice, it incorporated numerous overseas possessions in modern Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Greece, Albania and Cyprus. The republic grew into a trading power during the Middle Ages and strengthened this position during the Renaissance. Most citizens spoke the Venetian language, although publishing in Italian became the norm during the Renaissance, alongside Latin.

During the 5th century, northeast Italy was devastated by the Germanic barbarian invasions. A large number of the inhabitants moved to the coastal lagoons, looking for a safer place to live. Here they established a collection of lagoon communities, stretching over about 130 km (81 mi) from Chioggia in the south to Grado in the north, who banded together for mutual defence from the Lombards, Huns, and other invading peoples as the power of the Western Roman Empire dwindled in northern Italy. At some point in the first decades of the eighth century, the people of the Byzantine province of Venice elected their first leader Ursus (or Orso Ipato), who was confirmed by Constantinople and given the titles of hypatus and dux. He was the first historical Doge of Venice. Tradition, however, first attested in the early 11th century, states that the Venetians first proclaimed one Anafestus Paulicius duke in 697, though this story dates to no earlier than the chronicle of John the Deacon. Whichever the case, the first doges had their power base in Heraclea. |

In their Italian side, they have no terrain while in their south Croatian side, the terrain is Hilly.

The base income of the Republic of Venice is 447,059$. As such, the pure tax income generates $468,579 of the amount and excludes the insignificant resource income producing the remaining of the $6,714. Much of the tax economy is generated from its three largest cities:

It has a manpower gain of 758 which is considerably small due to other major Italian regions having more. It has a manpower capacity of 117,519 on its starting Volunteer conscription law.

The population of the Republic of Venice is 5,875,913. The majority of the population lives in the three largest cities. These are;

Most of the people that live in the Republic of Venice live in Italian lands (4,311,959) while the Croatian side is less populous (1,563,954).

Strategy[]
This strategy assumes that whole Italy has collapsed.
Step 1 - Economy and Manpower[]
When you start off as a releasable, you get no manpower, so try to get as much as possible (Conscription Laws, Ideologies, etc). Then, make 2 electronic factories and wait for them to finish. When they finish, buy the resources for them and sell the electronics to AI high-tier countries. During this process, justify on Friuli and Lombardy.
Step 2 - The Battle[]
When your justifications finish, make 60K troops and go to war with Friuli and Lombardy. Friuli and Lombardy both are basically never played except for their formables. If they are player, just make more troops and capture them because they don't have time to make some. Justify on Croatia.
Step 3 - Annexing Croatia[]
If player: A Croatian player is rare, but here we go. First, make a destroyer because you are gonna make your troops travel to sea and to bombard the enemy troops. Also make artillery to bombard even more. Make around 200K troops. If you want, you can get aircraft by buying some Aircraft Parts from a Player Nation. Declare war. The Croatian player will probably freak out and spam troops. Since you have a destroyer, their army will decrease. Try to land your troops and artillery at Rijeka. The Croatian player will charge all of its troops at you but miserably fail to do so. Capture their capital. The player will probably ragequit and now you can form.
If AI: Simply make 100K troops, declare war on Croatia, pass trough 
Trieste and conquer Rijeka then Zagreb. Split your troops and autocapture all of Croatia and now you can form.

Over time, discourse in the official Discord server has taken place over the territory of the Republic. The current borders are far from what the actual Republic had at its peak, which led many to argue over what lands the formable should require. More recently, border changes and reworks have been suggested in the Discord server based around the Republic.
Note that the Formable Optimizations v3 google doc includes a reworked territory map of the Republic, however only changes the Croatian territories to be Dalmatia, instead of all of Croatia.
