— Description of forming Rio de la Plata |
Rio de la Plata is a formable located in South America, which can only be formed by Argentina. With its original borders, it borders
Peru and the remainder of
Brazil.
Background[]

The United Provinces of the Río de la Plata, earlier known as the United Provinces of South America, was a name adopted in 1816 by the Congress of Tucumán for the region of South America that declared independence in 1816, with the Sovereign Congress taking place in 1813, during the Argentine War of Independence (1810–1818) that began with the May Revolution in 1810. It originally comprised rebellious territories of the former Spanish Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata dependencies and had Buenos Aires as its capital.
In the midst of the war of independence, during the entire 1810–1831 period there were serious conflicts among ever-changing factions regarding the organization of the state and the political aims of the revolutionary governments. These conflicts involved coups d'état, mutinies, politically motivated trials, banishments and imprisonments and finally developed into an outright civil war. Ever since the revolution, there were serious conflicts among diverging views regarding the political organization of the provinces. While some advocated a strong and executive central government with little accountability to the regional interests, a position at first favored by the "enlightened" revolutionary and independentist elements, others sought to integrate representatives from the provinces in a larger deliberative assembly. As the latter position gained the upper hand, the Primera Junta grew to incorporate delegates from the provinces in 1811. However, as it became evident that such an arrangement was not effective enough to lead the war efforts, a triumvirate assumed executive powers while the assembly retained some controlling functions. |
Strategy[]
Your biggest threat will be Brazil since they have a huge economy and a lot of land. The strategy is to attack the small nations first you need for the formable because Brazil is going to be the biggest nation in South America. Go after
Uruguay, although Brazil is going to need that for the
Empire of Brazil.
Make sure you have a lot of tanks and troops to destroy Brazil. They can get angry if you have taken Uruguay or maybe not if they don't care at all. In the event that they are fine with the annexation, it is best to not attack them, and to instead attempt to establish an alliance with them. Then go after Paraguay,
Bolivia,
Chile, and finally Brazil. Chile may be a challenge due to their terrain, and the fact it is infamously a long country.
If they denounce the annexation or invade or take all of Uruguay first, Brazil is going to be the hardest to form Rio de la Plata because they have some very big cities that require a lot of units to capture such as São Paulo or Brasilia. Luckily, due to Brazil's starting ideology, Democracy, it will take longer to launch an invasion on Uruguay, and will give you time to prepare for war. The other countries won't be that complicated due to the lack of them having a good economy.
After taking Brazil, South America is basically now in your sphere of influence.
Geography[]

Terrain of Rio de la Plata

Biomes of Rio de la Plata
Terrain[]
Chile is the only country in the formable that contains mountains, being Semi-Mountainous to its south, and Mountainous to its north. Northwestern Argentina and much of western Bolivia except for its northwestern area is Hilly The rest of the terrain is flat.
Biomes[]
Rio de La Plata's biome is quite diverse: Argentina and Uruguay are entirely made up of the normal biome. Paraguay shares this same trait for the most part, except for two stray cities in the Jungle. Southern Chile also has the normal biome, while its north is Arid. A large area surrounding the capital of Bolivia, Sucre, is also Arid, while its north is split between the normal biome and Jungle. There is also another normal biome area in Bolivia, which is to its southeast.
Borders[]
This formable only borders Peru and
Brazil.
Threats[]
Peru might annex
Bolivia to form
Peru-Bolivian Confederation or Inca Empire.
Chile has a good defensive position because of its geography, and if a player, will use this to their advantage.
Brazil is most likely to form the
Empire of Brazil. To makes this threat worse, the nation is very likely to be a player, it has a very good military, very large, and has numerous Jungle biomes and Hilly terrain.
Trivia[]
- Brazil used to be included in the formable. This made it extremely difficult to form, and thus it was removed from the requirements.
