— Description of forming Russian Empire |
The Russian Empire is a formable of Russia spanning Eastern Europe
aswell as North and Central Asia
. It was the first exclusive formable implemented to the game, meaning you cannot transform into the
Soviet Union once you form this.
The Russian Empire was one of the most frequently suggested nations in the Rise of Nations Discord server before its inclusion. The description was suggested by hiveslayerfallen on August 28, 2020; the borders by Aakcop on August 1, 2020; and the flag was suggested by multiple individuals, the most recent one being dinokingty on October 5, 2020.
The Russian Empire faces many of the same problems as the Soviet Union, having difficulty in building a navy, bad access to the world's oceans cause of the Kiel and Istanbul Canals as well as the flat terrain stretching all across the European part of the empire making it easy for any European country to quickly invade it when it isn't winter. The Russian Empire is the fourth-largest formable in the game by land size. This vast land area also encompasses most of the world's resource with the Russian Empire easily being able to industralize thanks to the large abundance of resources, this allows it to very quickly rise to the top as a global superpower.
Forming it in a public server gives you the title of Tsar, and unlocks the Russian WWII Skin.
Background[]
The Russian Empire was founded in November 1721 by Tsar Peter the Great after the defeat of the Swedish Empire in the Great Northern War, the war had propelled
Russia from a regional power to a European Great Power after the acquisition of Baltic ports in the area. Tsarina Catherine the Great later expanded Russia further into
Poland-Lithuania, partitioning it among Prussia and the
Austrian Empire. She also went to war with the
Ottoman Empire and conquered the area commonly known today as Novorossiya. Alexander I ended Napoleon's militaristic ambitions and crushed his army during the 1812 invasion of Russia and secured more territories for Russia, notable ones being
Poland and
Finland.
Nicholas I later tried to expand Russia into the Balkans but was beaten down by a coalition consisting of the Ottoman Empire, United Kingdom and
France. Alexander II reformed Russia in ways like emancipating the serfs in 1861, selling
Alaska to the
United States, imposing universal military service, ending several privileges of the nobility and pivoting away from
France to instead join the
German Empire and the
Austro-Hungarian Empire in the League of the Three Emperors that would stabilize the European situation. Alexander III later ascended to the throne after Alexander II was assassinated in 1881, reverting many of the reforms made by Alexander II and giving the Tsar more authority. Nicholas II was the last Tsar of Russia after the death of Alexander III in 1894. The Russian Empire ultimately collapsed in 1917 due to the internal unrest caused by World War 1 which forced the Tsar to abdicate and establish the Russian Republic. The Bolsheviks took advantage of the political chaos in Russia and started a 4-year long civil war which they won, forming the
Soviet Union in 1922.
Resources[]
The Russian Empire controls a significant amount of the world's Iron,
Phosphate,
Oil,
Gold,
Copper,
Tungsten and
Titanium reserves. This makes it one of the most resource-rich formables. The Russian Empire can easily use their resources to gain money by trading them or using them to build factories all around the country.

Geography[]
Terrain[]
The terrain of the Russian Empire is varied. The flat terrain covers almost all of the formable.
Then, there's Hilly, which can be found in Pomorje, the tiles of Lankaran, Mednogorsk, Kartaly, Skovorodino, and Obluchye, the central tiles of Krasnoyarsk Krai, southwestern Irkutsk Oblast, Kamchatka Krai, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, much of northern
Yakutia (except for the Udachnyy tile, which is flat), almost all of the Primorsky Krai (except for it normal terrain south), southeastern Khabarovsk Krai, and all of Sakhalin Oblast except for the tile of the city of Okha.
Then, there is Semi-Mountainous, which in the west of the Urals can be found in Georgia (except for the Greater Caucasus mountain range), among others. Also, in the Northern Caucasus, this type of terrain can be found in the the Mozdok tile along with the 2-city tiles of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik and Labinsk and Armavir. Lastly, Semi-Mountainous covers the tile representing an archipelago in the north of the Russian Empire, Novaya Zemlya. In Asia, however, Semi-Mountainous can be found in the central Urals, southeastern
Uzbekistan, southwesternmost tile of
Tajikistan, Tajikistan's northern panhandle, all Uzbekistani land west of the Tashkent Region tiles, the tile containing the
Kazakh cities of Almaty, Boralday, Esik, and Qapshaghay, Yuzhny Island, the tiles north of the Altai Republic and
Tuva, the tiles west and north of
Buryatia, the southern half of the Zabaykalsky Krai, and the rest of the Pacific Coast of
Russia.
Last is Mountainous terrain. This covers Carpathian Rus, the rest of the Urals, the rest of Tajikistan, the tile in which the Uzbek city of Denow is located, the Tashkent Region tiles, all of
Kyrgyzstan, the Kazakh tile of Zharkent, the Altai Republic tile, Tuva, the Abaza tile, the Yermakosvkoye tile, Buryatia, the tiles bordering the southeast and northeast of Buryatia, and the Neryungri tile.
Biome[]
The biome of the Russian Empire is just as various as Russia's itself. Maintaining mostly permanent biomes throughout the year, the Russian Empire is an extremely strategic formable, mainly due to the Arctic covered north, encompassing most of well, the north of Russia, as well as
Finland. As for the other winter-related biomes:
During December-January Budjak,
Crimea the North Caucasian Federal District (except for
Avaria and
Kumykia, which remain in the normal biome), the Southern Federal District, the southern panhandles of the
Ural Republic, the southern half of
Bashkortostan, central, central-eastern, and the entire north of
Kazakhstan, and the area roughly around Altai Krai experience Mild Winter. Mild Winter also occurs in the area between the aforementioned biomes in November and February, being replaced by Severe Winter from December-January. Being a temporary biome, these winter biomes are normal past and before their respective winter months.
Then, on the opposite spectrum, there is the Arid biome. This can be found in the rest of Kazakhstan not yet mentioned, all of
Uzbekistan west of its capital (with the only exception being the southeast), and all of
Turkmenistan. The rest of the territory lies within the normal biome.
Base Statistics[]
The Russian Empire has a base income of $6,193,563. It has 140,377,196 inhabitants, located within 785 cities. The most populous city in the country is also the capital, Moscow.

Strategy[]
The strategy is similar to the one for the Soviet Union. First of all, justify on
Kazakhstan immediately so
China doesn't take it before you. You don't need to make more troops. Use your starting infantry for Kazakhstan. Rush to the capital and wait until the Kazakhstani army is wiped out. After that, form a line and auto capture. Make steel and motor factories, create around 2k tanks for
Ukraine. Attack it and auto-capture. Focus on Central Asia next. Justify on
Uzbekistan and
Kyrgyzstan. Repeat the same process and justify on
Tajikistan and
Turkmenistan. Remember those tanks in
Ukraine? Take the Central Asian countries with your 2k tanks (Warning: In the Mountainous terrain of the 'stan' countries, make sure it's your infantry that takes the cities there, tanks are horrible there.). After that, steamroll the Baltics and
Finland with your troops (make sure to train some with Winter Specialization), and after, take
Belarus and
Moldova with your troops from the Baltics. After that's done, it's time for
Georgia and
Armenia. They're most likely AI (only sometimes played), so it should be easy enough to take over. Justify and annex them. Repeat the same process for
Azerbaijan.
Alaska has also been apart of the Russian Empire, but this is entirely optional as you may not want to wage war with the
United States.
Congratulations! You can now reform the once great Russian Empire! Боже, Царя храни!!
Threats[]
China needs cities from
Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan and southern
Russia in order to form
Qing Dynasty. China could also potentially expand into Central Asia to be self-sufficient in resources.
Iran expanding into the Caucasus or into Central Asia for their formables.
- A skilled player playing as any of the Central Asian countries.
Germany or any other major European power could contest you for grip on the European continent and could possibly invade you.
Poland could want to form the
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and thus needs
Lithuania,
Belarus,
Ukraine, and
Latvia.
- It is not uncommon for
Ukraine to be a player trying to form the
Kievan Rus and eventually try to invade you.
Sweden trying to form the
Swedish Empire.
Turkey taking the Caucasus.
Italy needs the Caucasus to form the
Roman Empire, but it is a rare occurrence.
- Any Nordic Nation needs
Finland for the
Kalmar Union.
