The Seljuk Empire, or the Great Seljuk Empire, was a high medieval empire, culturally Turco-Persian, founded and ruled by the Qïnïq branch of Oghuz Turks. It spanned a total area of 3.9 million square kilometres (1.5 million square miles) from Anatolia and the Levant in the west to the Hindu Kush in the east, and from Central Asia in the north to the Persian Gulf in the south.
The Seljuk Empire was founded in 1037 by Tughril (990–1063) and his brother Chaghri (989–1060), both of whom co-ruled over its territories; there are indications that the Seljuk leadership otherwise functioned as a triumvirate and thus included Musa Yabghu, the uncle of the aforementioned two. From their homelands near the Aral Sea, the Seljuks advanced first into Khorasan and into the Iranian mainland, where they would become largely based as a Persianate society. They then moved west to conquer Baghdad, filling up the power vacuum that had been caused by struggles between the Arab Abbasid Caliphate and the Iranian Buyid Empire. Its manpower is 2,398,571 when formed, however thanks to population increases, it will likely become bigger than that. The formable's starting nation, Turkmenistan, starts with volunteer conscription. Terrain[]
Most of the lands the Seljuk Empire possesses in Central Asia is flat. Inside its territories in the empire's center, lies mostly Semi-Mountainous terrain with the exception of Eastern Azerbaijan which is Hilly as well as the Mountainous terrain in the Western and Northern territories in Iran. Its territories west are mostly flat, however inside inner Turkey and Lebanon lies Hilly terrain.
Biome[]
The Seljuk Empire is mostly encompassed by the Arid biome. However, its territories in the Caucasus, Turkey, and the western Levant, are unaffected by any biome.
Threats[]
Russia will need you for the
Russian Empire or the
Soviet Union.
Iran will likely capture you at the start of the game if it has a player.
Turkey will want to take the Middle East for the
Ottoman Empire or the
Islamic Caliphate.
Egypt will want to take the Middle East as well.
Saudi Arabia in rare cases can become a player and prevent you from forming by taking over Oman and the
United Arab Emirates.
- Central Asian nations as well as
Afghanistan,
Uzbekistan and
Pakistan will want to stop you.
- India expanding into different parts of asia, which is quite rare.
Strategy[]
This is a very hard formable to do as Turkmenistan but is still possible.
- Attempt to Ally Russia to gain access to the black sea, which will be useful later.
- Start with taking Armenia and Azerbaijan.
- Take Syria as fast as you can and take Iraq right after, passing through Russia if needed.
- Annex Lebanon, then annex Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
- Now take turkey, you have nearly become a superpower by now.
- Take Oman, then store all of your manpower.
- Now take Iran last, make sure to research Infantry and Tank Mobility before doing so. It will really speed things up.
