— Description of forming Spanish Empire |
The Spanish Empire is a transcontinental formable that can only be formed by Spain.
The Spanish Empire encompasses many regions across the globe, with a majority of its lands centralized in North America and South America
. When unified, it becomes one of the strongest nations in the game, providing a robust economy, sizable territory, substantial population, and receives the potential to project military power internationally.
Forming the Spanish Empire in a public server offers the Conquistador title.
Background[]

The Spanish Empire was one of the largest empires in history, and one of the first global empires. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spain was a very powerful country. It led European exploration of the world, building the largest colonies in the New World at the time. Spain also created trade routes across the oceans. The Spanish traded goods across the Atlantic Ocean, between Spain and its colonies in the Americas. They also traded across the Pacific Ocean, between Asian-Pacific countries and Mexico.
Spanish Conquistadors destroyed the Aztec, For a time, the Spanish Empire was a great power in the oceans, with its experienced navy. It was also very powerful in European land battles, with its well-trained infantry. Spain enjoyed a cultural golden age in the 16th and 17th centuries. Phillip II of Spain was also able to inherit Portugal (and its vast empire), the Netherlands (which consisted of Belgium and the Netherlands at the time), Naples (Southern Italy), and several other small territories in Germany and northern Italy. The Dutch, however, would revolt, and England (now the UK) would support them. Phillip II would spend much energy and resources fighting the Anglo-Dutch alliance, yet he would ultimately lose. This marked the beginning of the decline of Spain as a global superpower. The War of Spanish Succession and the Seven Years War would see Spain give more territory to the newly-formed Kingdom of Great Britain (now the UK). Spain would lose Gibraltar, Minorca, and Florida, yet the latter two of the three would be handed back to Spain following the American Revolutionary War. During the Napoleonic Wars, France would invade Spain, and many Spanish colonies in the Americas would win their independence. As the 19th century progressed, the Spanish Empire declined. Spain’s last colonies (Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Philippines) would be seized by the United States in the Spanish-American War. This marked the end of the Spanish Empire. |

Terrain[]
- The homeland is Spain has flat terrain, besides the northeast where it is Semi-Mountainous, bordering
France.
Mexico,
Venezuela, and the
Philippines is covered in Hilly and Semi-Mountainous.
Chile,
Peru,
Ecuador,
Colombia are all Mountainous.
Strategy[]
You should at least make around 2-3 electronic factories, as you don't want to spend too much of your money so that you can make Steel and Motor Parts. If they're already finished, you can sell them to rich nations, which are already known. Justify on Portugal and
Morocco, if the justification is finished you can go onto
Western Sahara. Start trading with countries for Titanium, Iron, Tungsten, so you can make steel and motor factories to make tanks quickly. Get specialization for your troops, as Morocco has a small amount of Arid but the Western Sahara is completely covered with it. Eventually declare war, and you can easily move into Portugal, due to how you are bordering them and they don't have that much of a tough terrain to go through. Getting onto their islands is possible by going through Morocco or the Western Sahara if that's the direction of the troops. If they aren't AI, they have less MP and resources, so you can easily get them to their capital and use artillery to take down their nearby troops, navy if possible. Take down their capital and it would weaken them.
Meanwhile when you're in the war, you should immediately get ready to invade Mexico as
the USA is still justifying war on them. Get some troops nearby
Equatorial Guinea and justify on them, including Mexico. Equatorial Guinea is an easy target, just get some troops that outnumber their home-guards and take them down. As for Mexico, set up some troops if you have enough MP, and make sure it outnumbers the amount of Mexico's troops, and set them up nearby Mexico. After you're finished with Portugal, Western Sahara, and Morocco you can go ahead to Mexico and at least set up some home guards so you won't be attacked by others. Get specialization for your troops and get ready to invade Mexico. Declare war on them and get your troops to separate and at least outnumber their home-guards, and set some others for Mexico's capital. If you are able to finish off Mexico, go ahead and expand by going onto Central America, as most of them are not occupied most of the time.
After that, you can go into Colombia and
Venezuela, if
Brazil isn't AI you might have to get ready to have a good amount of MP to invade them, and you can easily lure them into your Navy and Artillery as their troops are vulnerable to it. If they have navy, Submarines can be used to take them down and battleships. Trade with countries that have oil so that you can use them for tanks and navy. If Brazil is AI you can lure them into artillery and navy by capturing one city near their home-guard and moving out. When their troops are weakened, you can go ahead and attack them, after that, get your troops to capture all cities then you're done. If Brazil hasn't captured the rest of the countries nearby (
Chile,
Peru,
Bolivia,
Ecuador), get ready for specialization because of the horrid terrain. You can use the same strategy for this if they are AI or Player, this could also include Colombia and Venezuela. When you're done with South America
, you can go ahead to Asia. If
Philippines isn't captured you can easily take them down with your Jungle specialization, and if they're a player just use navy due to how they have tough spots and their landmass isn't that large. If
Japan took the Philippines, use the strategy below. Basically you're now done.
If
Japan took the
Philippines[]
Train many tanks and infantry, you should try to attempt a alliance with China / Russia (either one works) and declare war. You will want a good navy, as Japan will most likely have destroyers and submarines by this point, if Japan is distracted, you can bomb Tokyo and rush around 4K tanks and 500k infantry. You should take some land nearby Japan so you can make Sonar Stations to detect their submarines and navy. Make sure it doesn't get occupied by Japan their self.
If
America took
Mexico[]
Ally with the United Kingdom, as they most likely want
Canada, and the average USA player forms/formed the
North American Union by now. At this point, the best thing you could possibly do is negotiate with the USA, but there is a high chance they will decline. So, what should you do in this situation? You and the UK should attempt to do a joint invasion of the USA, if you play this skillfully, the USA player eventually will collapse and you’re in luck.
Threats[]
The main threat is Brazil since most of the requirements are in South America
. Even if you negotiated about the lands in South America
, you might miss a country,
Uruguay for Brazil to form.
The other threat is USA because the USA might take Mexico to form the North American Union. There's also a chance for USA to not let you in the Americas. It is highly likely for the US and Brazil to both be players.
The third most likely potential threat is Japan because the Philippines is often one of the first countries to be invaded by Japan. It could be worse if players pick Mexico, Colombia, Philippines or Argentina as their country. In the worst case scenario, a majority of those countries could be players, making your formable become incredibly difficult.
France is also a threat, as they too need Morocco to form the
French Empire. Morocco themselves is even a threat, as a good enough Morocco player could end your run. Any nation trying to form
Patria Grande or
West Indies Federation can be a big problem.
Cuba,
Dominican Republic and
Haiti can be players that attempt and form there respective formables and that can be a issue to forming your Empire.

The 2nd Imperial Spanish flag which resembles the newer Spanish flag.
Trivia[]
.
- Most native Spanish speakers live in the former Spanish Empire.
- All countries who have used/uses a currency named "peso" were part of the Spanish Empire. Current users of the peso include
Argentina,
Chile,
Colombia,
Uruguay,
Cuba,
Dominican Republic,
Mexico, and
Philippines.[1]
Dominican Republic, despite being a former Spanish colony, is not needed for this formable.[2]
- On June 7th, 1494 Spain (then known as Castile) and the
Portuguese Empire divided the world between each other in the Treaty of Tordesillas. Everything west of the
Cabo Verde islands would be claimed by the Spanish and everything to the east was claimed by
Portugal. Obviously, no other nation accepted these claims, and they never came to fruition, although
Portugal likely unintentionally took mostly modern-day Brazilian lands which reside in the East and
Spain took a majority of the west.
- The Spanish Empire had 2 flags. The first, known as the Cross of Burgundy, and the 2nd which somewhat resembles
Spain's current flag. Rise of Nations uses the Cross of Burgundy.
- The formable doesn't require for you to own
Spain itself to form it.
