The Full Neutral Strategy (FNS) is a strategy that relies on not making alliances or declaring wars. Here's some more details on it.
For this strategy you should be a Tier II to Tier IV country. Lower tiers are harder to apply this strategy to and higher ones have large militaries and get invaded more often, perhaps for resources.
How to use this strategy to your advantage[]
First thing that you should do is pick a country with a good and rough terrain (Like Iran or Romania) to be easier to defend yourself. You could also choose an island country, but making an efficient navy with a Tier I country might be hard for some. First, you might want to disband your home guard to earn money quicker. If you have aggressive neighbours, keep the home guard and focus more on developing cities, making a light artillery division and display it along your mountains to protect your capital. Do not make alliances as they can draw you into conflicts.
Don't be quick with tanks unless necessary. Focus on economy and light protection against possible dangers. Make some small anti-aircraft units about 1-3 (in-game) years into the game, since most players don't use planes until mandatory. You might also want to start construction on Electronic Factories during this time to sell on Rich AI nations such as India & Japan
Island FNS Tactic[]
For islands, keep your home guard and make a navy ASAP. Develop your capital to the max tier with no rush. This might be boring, so put your Roblox sounds pretty high for any notifications that might signal war declaration/justification if you go afk.
This is why it isn't recommended using the FNS tactic for Island Nations.
Playing as Japan[]
Japan starts the game as a Democracy which gives it a Tax boost. Due to Tokyo being the biggest city in the game it is recommended to build fortification on it along side Osaka, these two cities alone are valuable and if able prevent to lose one of them, build Artillery in the start of the game and place it on those two cities to improve it defense further. Use your Political Power to get Tax Reform and Improve Infrastructure, Public Service is also recommended. Build Factories to get Consumer Goods sadly you have to buy this from other Nations as Japan is not Resource Rich try and buy it from AI if able to. You can start Developing Cities to have an even better Economy as maintaining a Navy is costly. A Navy of 6 submarines 4 destroyers and 2 battleships should be big enough to hold off a naval battle in the case of War, it is recommended to place it near South Korea as China will be your biggest threat. If able an Aircraft Carrier can protect a good portion of your Cities if troops pass your Navy and landed. If you're lucky you be Number one in the leaderboards without expanding!
Good Nations to play as[]
These are some of the best nations to play as to be neutral. These are due to their terrain, biomes, economy, and sometimes their starting military and proximity to major powers.
Iran- Excellent potential defense due to the fact that you are mostly mountainous/semi-mountainous. This also adds up to the fact that Iran also has Arid terrain, making it more difficult to travel through and more likely to deliver attrition to enemy units.
Chile- similar to Iran, although you're much longer and thinner.
Argentina is your main threat, yet with a good enough military, they should be dealt with due to attrition.
Romania- Romania has mountainous terrain in its central and western areas. It's a good idea to station troops in them and also build forts on your cities. Overall, Romania, while small and mediocre, can pack a punch if you play it right.
Norway- Probably the best potential defense in game. Norway has a combination of mountainous and arctic, meaning moving troops through Norway will take a long time. As such, entrenchment can also prove crucial in Norway. Your Nordic neighbours are all rather weak, with European powers such as the
United Kingdom,
France, and
Germany all separated by water, meaning if they send troop transports, you can easily defeat them with navy forces. Your defense is even stronger when winter comes, as troops may become weaker in Severe Winter.
United States- Due to it having the second largest population in the game and starting as a Democracy, the USA is a good nation for defensive Wars, as not a lot of nations will try and start a war with you. Build Infantry & Artillery in
Hawaii and
Alaska as they might be good places to start a counter invasion if a nation such as
China or
India declares war. Remember, the biggest advantage of the USA is large oceans defending it from the east and west, so a navy is needed unless you want cities like Los Angeles or New York to be lost.
Switzerland- Most people may call Switzerland the "Chad" of Europe
. It has good potential for defending against other power, due to its mountainous terrain. Be sure to use trained artillery, tanks, and have a good economy (Although be careful,
France is your #1 threat, since it is common for France to eat Switzerland if the Swiss Neutrality joke isn't made).
Afghanistan- Similar to Iran, as it is also arid and mountainous. With enough defensive strategies (Forts, doctrines, tech, entrenchment, etc.), you may even be able to defend from
India.
