Sudan is a Tier IV nation in northern Africa.
Background[]
Sudan has a rich history, being a sort of side-character to the cradle of civilization. Sitting below the famous ancient Egypt was the kingdom of Kush. Kush was located in the Nubian Desert along the Nile River, making the kingdom rich in farming and trade. They developed a unique culture from
Egypt in its early history, speaking the Cushitic and Meroitic languages.
Kush had gained independence from Egypt after the kingdom fell into civil war in 1070 BCE. In 727 BCE, the Kushites would return to Egypt and conquer it under King Piye. Kushite control over Egypt would last until the Assyrian Empire invaded the region. After Kush lost Egypt it would suffer invasions from the nearby Abyssinians. From there the region known as Sudan would be raided by the Mamluk Sultanate and eventually invaded by the Ottoman Empire. The region stayed a part of Ottoman Egypt until Britain invaded Egypt in 1882, turning the region into a joint-controlled colony known as Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. Sudan would remain a British colony until 1956 when it gained independence. Afterwards the nation was declared an Islamic Arabic republic, which angered the black Christian minorities in the south of the country. Following two civil wars South Sudan would gain independence with multiple border disputes with Sudan over oil filled regions. Another region of Sudan with a black minority, Darfur, would not be as lucky as South Sudan. Darfur would endure a massive genocide from the Sudanese Army who wished to retain control over the region for its oil fields. Today Sudan remains a conflicted nation, not only having disputes with South Sudan but having Disputes with Egypt over a border region with ethnic Sudanese people, and oil. |
Base Statistics[]
Economy[]
Sudan has an income of $713,476, $695,270 of which comes from tax. Resources also have a low contribution to the income, $18,206.
Resources[]
Sudan is very poor in resources.

Military[]
Sudan begins with a home guard of 60,000 troops stationed on the capital, Khartoum. This is enough to invade any country near you except for Egypt,
Ethiopia, and
Libya. It starts with a manpower cap of 234,237, and gains +1074 manpower daily. Sudan's starting conscription law is volunteer.

Geography[]
Terrain[]
Sudan's terrain is completely flat except for the Hilly coast.
Biome[]
Sudan consists of the Arid Sahara Desert, causing attrition on any enemy land units crossing, making it a blessing for defense while also making it a curse for navigation.
Cities[]
Sudan has 29 cities, with the capital being Khartoum. Its second most major city, Omdurman, lies on top of Khartoum and has about a third of Khartoum's population. Both cities have over a million inhabitants, making them eligible for the production tanks.
Borders[]
Sudan borders 7 countries
Threats[]
Egypt trying to form
Khedivate of Egypt.
Saudi Arabia or any other Arab nation trying to form
Arab League.
Algeria or any other African Nation trying to form
African Union.
- The
United Kingdom trying to form
British Empire.
Strategy[]
Starting Moves[]
First of all if Egypt is a player you should ally them immediately because they will most likely attack you, or try truce-locking them through an ally (i.e. declaring war against an ally of them [in this case Egypt] and then ask for white peace so that you can have a 2 year truce). Because you are playing a Tier IV nation, you should build 2 electronic factories, 1 steel, 1 motor factory and 1 fertilizer. Justify on
South Sudan and
Eritrea, because you will need them to form
Kush, next you should sell the electronics, and build as many civilian factories as needed, set up your Laws, Economic Laws, Leaders, etc. For research, try to technology share with other nations, this allows you to gain a 25% Research efficiency boost on all technologies that you don't currently have, but the other one does have and vice versa, this is very useful if you are playing with friends as it allows you to progress the early and mid game much faster, and comes with no known downsides.
Ideologies[]
Both Fascism and Communism can work for Sudan, however due to it being relatively resource poor, you should stick with Fascism. If you plan to form the Arab League, Communism will grant you a ton of bonuses and will help you earn more money through resources and factories.
Initial Expansion[]
After justifying invade Eritrea, and justify on Djibouti and
Ethiopia, with the money earn from your invasions expand south until you have annex a great portion of East Africa, if you want to you can also expand into the Arabian Peninsula. After that you should develop your nation (Development, Infrastructure, and Technology) and army (max out your Doctrines, set up your Military Leaders, train your Units, etc.).
Mid-Game Colonization[]
After that you should be able to take out Egypt and most of Africa, if you see any colonial power, try to figure out the best way to attack them (Naval Invasions, Paratroopers or a direct land attack through an ally). Once you form Kush, you should try to form the African Union, and later the
Arab League, which has a better modifier.
Late Game[]
Finally, you should try to max out your research and be completely economically autonomous no longer relying on trade, Africa offers a ton of resources such as Uranium and Diamonds, which will allow you to further expand your economy and even allow you to build Nuclear Weapons.
Trivia[]
- Sudan used to have two more formables which were the
Saharan Kingdom and the
Nile Empire. However they were removed in an update.
- Sudan only has two square cities; one city being displayed as being inside the larger city. This city is Omdurman, a city that has a population of around 2.8 million. In-game, it sits right inside the capital, Khartoum, which has a population of around 5 million.
- There is a small, disputed piece of land between Sudan and
Egypt called the Hala'ib Triangle, which is a valuable area to own. This dispute was caused by British colonizers, who made a border change to the region due to cultural differences. Both wanting access to the triangle, Sudan states that the revised border is the legitimate one, while
Egypt claims the original border is official. This led to another, more interesting, border dispute with the area Bir Tawil. Because of how the borders were drawn, if either side claimed Bir Tawil, this would show that they were giving up ownership to the Hala'ib Triangle, making it the only border dispute where both sides insist the other side owns the territory.
