Thailand is a Tier IV nation located in Southeast Asia . Thailand is a good country to play, as it have decent amount of oil and entrance to both Indian and pacific ocean.
Background[]
The Thai people originated somewhere in southern China near Guangdong and Hebei, however in ancient times they began migrating south into southeast Asia between the Chao Phraya and Mekong rivers. It was here that the first Thai civilizations were developed.
Initially, Thailand took heavy influences from Indian culture, adopting Buddhism and Hinduism as it's main religion, borrowing culture from India, and trading with Indian peoples, mainly the Tamils. Over time, Thailand separated from Indian culture like the rest of Southeast Asia, yet retained more Indian cultural influence than it's neighbors. Thailand remained mostly Buddhist and endorsed Indian traditions even today. The first Thai Kingdom was established in the 13th century as the Kingdom of Sukhothai, under a feudal system. Originally as a remaining piece of the Khmer Empire, the kingdom remained prosperous before soon falling to the new Ayutthaya dynasty. Like Sukhothai, Ayutthaya soon fell and was replaced by the Thonburi Kingdom. During this period, Siam had to face a war to reunite all the Thai-Kingdoms, just like civil wars. After 15 years later, in 1782 (or 2325 BE) the Thonburi kingdom fell and was replaced by the Rattanakosin Kingdom During this time, Thailand managed to endure European colonialism. Portuguese traders began to normalize Thailand's name as Siam, and Thailand managed to avoid French and British colonizers. The main reason Thailand remained independent was because the British East India Company, (soon British Raj) wanted a buffer state between it and French Indochina. However, during this time, the British and French still managed to force Thailand into ceding it's territories to their colonial units, including major parts of modern day Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar, as well as a part of northern Malaysia. During the beginning of the 20th century, Thailand became open to foreign investment and underwent brief economic prosperity. British, French, and Japanese companies enjoyed investing into Thai industries, while the United States and Germany helped build railways in Thailand. During the First World War, Thailand joined the Entente following a declaration of war on Germany. Thailand did this to normalize it's relations with France and Britain to avoid colonization now that the two were allies who didn't need a buffer state. During this, Thailand showed support to the Entente by changing the color of the middle stripe in it's flag from red to blue, as most Entente nations had red, blue, and white in their flags. In 1932, the Thai monarchy was overthrown in a military coup. The military took absolute power and officially changed Siam's name to Thailand. The monarch continued to exist, yet only in a ceremonial manor, and not in a policy-making position. In 1940, following the fall of France, Thailand declared war on Vichy France and invaded French Indochina. Shortly after Thailand moved in the territory, they met with Japanese soldiers. Thailand and Japan agreed that an alliance would be in their best interests, and Thailand joined the war on the side of the Axis. After the end of the Second World War, Thailand managed to escape any type of punishment. Although France wanted land, and Britain wanted reparations, the United States protected Thailand from receiving any harsh treaty terms to prevent the rise of communism in Thailand. Thailand would remain a major U.S. ally in Southeast Asia until modern times. Thai airports held U.S. aircraft during the Vietnam War, and the Thai government remained strictly anti-communist to remain a bulwark against the ideology, unlike it's neighbors which turned to socialism, communism, and Maoism. This didn't mean communism was not a political force in Thailand, however. Several communist insurgencies began operating in rural Thailand, partially due to goals of overthrowing the Thai government, and partially as a greater insurgency scheme which has been brewing in Thailand as a result of power de-centralization. Thailand has remained very unstable in the past century because of the centralization of power within the capital city, Bangkok. Bangkok remains Thailand's economic and political center, while the rest of the nation is treated similar to a colony. Because of this, ethnic, religious, and political minorities have taken arms in a series of skirmishes with the Thai government away from Bangkok. Today, Thailand remains relatively unstable. In 2020, protests for the abolishment of the monarchy began. In 2021, Thailand has played a critical role in accepting refugees from Myanmar following the February military coup. |

Threats[]
- China or India expanding into Southeast Asia.
- Vietnam or the Nguyen Dynasty taking Thailand.
- Cambodia wanting Thailand for the Khmer Empire.
- Japan may annex Thailand after potentially forming the Empire of Japan.
- Other Southeast Asian nations, mainly Indonesia, wanting to form the Federation of Southeast Asian States.
Strategy[]
It is recommended to form an alliance with China and India at game-start due to the two nations usually consuming Southeast Asia. It is optional for you to ally Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia if they are a player(s). After that, buy resources to create steel and motor factories in order to make tanks. Listed below is if you want to form any of the nations that Thailand has, and how to form them.
Forming Siam:
Forming Siam, usually is extremely simple, as Laos is the only nation required for it. As you may know, Laos is quite weak compared to you. Justify and declare war, and use the A.I Luring technique and the auto capture function, and you have now reformed Siam!
Forming the Rattanakosin Kingdom
Make 100k infantry divisions and 400 tanks for attacking Burma. After, simply justify and declare war on Burma. Using the infantry divisions and the tanks you made, lure the AI (like you did with Laos) by capturing the cities of Rangoon and Naypyidaw. After the Home Guard (plus additional units) dies, you can freely invade the rest of Burma.
Next, justify and declare war on both Cambodia and Malaysia. Remember to use a bigger force to attack Malaysia because they have a stronger Home Guard than Cambodia.
With Singapore, it is recommend to use artillery to kill the Home Guard because it would be a pain facing entrenched troops. After annexing Singapore, you now can form the great Rattanakosin Kingdom!
Further Colonization:[]
Thailand is an excellent choice to start a colonial empire because of its large amount of Oil reserves, entrance to two oceans and relatively good manpower supply. Build two frigates and upgrade the naval missile branch of technology to level two. Your first target is the Maldives because it acts as a good base for future missions. Place your frigates in the Maldives to wipe out their home guard. You should have no problem capturing the Maldives afterwards. If Saudi Arabia hasn't captured it, your next target is Oman, as it has even more Oil. Again, move your frigate to Oman to destroy their Home Guard. Land your troops in the south. Continue capturing the Arabian Peninsula. In the case that Saudi Arabia is a player, make sure to ally them. If they reject your request, you will want to use your newly found oil to build some tanks. Now your next target is Eritrea, as it is relatively weak, and they have Copper. After justifying and declaring war on Eritrea, use your frigates to destroy their Home Guard. Then you will have no problem capturing the rest of it.
