Vanuatu is a Tier I island nation located in Oceania
Background[]
Vanuatu, officially the Republic of Vanuatu, is a Tier I island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago, which is of volcanic origin, is 1.750 kilometres (1,090 mi) east of northern Australia, 540 kilometres (340 mi) northeast of New Caledonia, east of New Guinea, southeast of the Solomon Islands, and west of Fiji.
Vanuatu was first inhabited by Melanesian people. The first Europeans to visit the islands were a Spanish expedition led by Portuguese navigator Fernandes de Queirós, who arrived on the largest island, Espíritu Santo, in 1606. Queirós claimed the archipelago for Spain, as part of the colonial Spanish East Indies, and named it La Australia del Espíritu Santo. In the 1880s, the French and the British claimed parts of the archipelago, and in 1906, they agreed on a framework for jointly managing the archipelago as the New Hebrides through an Anglo–French condominium. An independence movement arose in the 1970s, and soon the Republic of Vanuatu was founded in 1980. Since independence, the country has become a member of the United Nations, Commonwealth of Nations, Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and the Pacific Islands Forum. |

Geography[]
It is an island, meaning it doesn't have any terrain. The country is located east of Australia, north of
New Caledonia, and west of
Fiji.
Cities[]
Vanuatu has two cities, Luganville and its capital, Port Vila.
Threats[]
Vanuatu's only major threat is Australia, but during late-game
France may want to invade it to form the
French Empire. It could also be invaded by a Pacific nation trying to form one of the two Pacific Formables, most likely
Fiji.
Strategy[]
So you want to try Vanuatu? Well you're in luck, here's the perfect strategy for you.
Step 1: Justify on Neighbors and Build Up Troops[]
Usually no one plays in the Pacific Islands except from Australia, and even then there's a small chance that people will even want to play
Australia. So in this scenario, everyone around you in Oceania is an AI country. First you want to justify on your neighbors. As they're all AI, any of them work, so let's just pick
New Caledonia and
Fiji because they're very close. Then, build up 60,000 troops with your starting manpower. Now you have 80,000 troops. While you're at it, you might want to begin research, and start developing cities to improve your economy.
Step 2: Invade Your Neighbors[]
Declare war. There are a few other ways that you can conquer your neighbors with minimal losses. If you can afford it, try building a ship to bombard enemy troops. If you can't, try and use artillery. Or you can engage in a battle while in naval form to avoid attrition. Anyways, once the base army is gone, just take the island and BOOM, you win! Repeat these on your neighbors, such as New Caledonia,
Fiji,
Solomon Islands,
Tonga,
Marshall Islands,
Guam,
Samoa,
American Samoa,
Cook Islands,
Kiribati,
Palau,
Papua New Guinea, and once you've taken them all, now you can form the
Pacific Federation! (Remember to rest your troops if they're low, avoid wiping them out because now you'll have to conscript more and that costs valuable manpower and money.)
Step 3: Time of Peace[]
Once you've formed the Pacific Federation, avoid going to war with
Australia immediately. Instead be at peace. Develop your cities, get new research, conscript more troops. I recommend switching ideology to Fascism, because it's arguably the best in your situation, because Communism is not very effective considering you lack natural resources. If you have enough Political Power left, consider going to Limited. Limited is really Over powered, you get basically double manpower with only a minor debuff. Also train up your troops, and when you're ready, you can continue your rampage in Oceania.
Step 4: BACK TO WAR![]
Declare war on New Zealand. That will give you a good base to invade
Australia. Use artillery or ships to bombard
New Zealand's base army. Then take 'em out. Now I recommend waiting. Who knows what's going on outside of Oceania, but that doesn't really bother you. You could try and befriend and ally people, but as each RON game is basically random, I can't tell you who you should ally or such. Prepare your troops, and begin the invasion of
Australia Do the same thing you did in
New Zealand. Also, a good idea, is to send in a seperate army and send them around
Australia to land on West
Australiaand conquer that to save you time and possible attrition you might get across the desert. So now you've conquered
Australia You can now form the
Oceanic Union.
Step 5: The Game Is Up To YOU Now[]
This was just a strategy, and now that you are the conquerer of Oceania, you can basically do whatever. Go invade Indonesia, or the
Philippines, or something. The game is up to you now, but you've done it. You've conquered Oceania, good job.
