— Description of forming Zapadoslavia |
Zapadoslavia is a formable of Poland,
Slovakia and the
Czech Republic that is located in the Central and Eastern European regions of Europe
. The nation is a regional formable instead of a historical formable, however it excluded the nation of
Hungary, which makes up the economic, militaristic and cultural group known as the Visegrad.
The suggestion was made on the 28th of November, 2019 by an unknown user and added in the Technology Update on December 24, 2019.
Zapadoslavia borders Belarus,
Russia,
Germany,
Austria,
Hungary,
Ukraine, and
Lithuania. It has access to the Baltic Sea.
Background[]
Zapadoslavia is an entirely fictional state and idea, with no real life concepts ever being suggested. The term "Zapadoslavia" came from an amalgamation of multiple alternate history timelines, and thus has no real counterpart. This is also the reason it is up for removal, as no source was ever found for it. The name is a sort-of-wordplay on the actual historical state, Yugoslavia, which was a "federation" of southern Slavs, excluding
Bulgaria. The term comes from the word "Zapad" which means "west" in most slavic languages, except
Polish.
Economy and Manpower[]
Both the economy and manpower of Zapadoslavia are on the lower end compared to their neighbors, with an income of $1,151,818 and a max manpower (2%) of 325,134, as well as a manpower gain of 1869. Although an improvement from the individual nations that make Zapadoslavia, it is still quite weak compared to Germany, France, or Britain, likely due to the lack of large cities in the territory.

Geography[]
Terrain[]

Most of Zapadoslavia is located in the Central European Plain and is flat. However, the southern edge of Slovakia are covered by mountainous terrain, which give it decent protection from any Balkan threats. However, it is very vulnerable to invasions from
Germany and
Russia, the country's two closest neighbors.
Biomes[]
During most of the year, the biome is normal. However, the nation does suffer Mild Winter and Severe Winter in northeastern Poland. This is helpful, as it will deal attrition to invading units.
This formable could be defensive, as Slovakia has mountains and Mild Winter and northeastern
Poland has Severe Winter.
Threats[]
Germany needs most of Poland for the
German Empire or just to purely expand.
Russia expanding westwards, often after forming either the
Soviet Union or the
Russian Empire.
Austria needs Czechia and Slovakia for either the
Austrian Empire or the
Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Hungary needs Czechia and Slovakia for either the
Austro-Hungarian Empire or the
Kingdom of Hungary.
Ukraine and
Belarus need all of Zapadoslavia to form
Intermarium.
Lithuania needs Poland to form the
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
- Any European nation attempting to form the
European Union.
Resources[]
Zapadoslavia has a small but somewhat diverse resource base. Like many Central European countries, it lacks strategic resources such as titanium and tungsten, and is overall not capable of self-sufficiency. However, the small population will make obtaining resources easier and require next time.
- 3 units of copper every turn
- 15 units of oil every turn
- 1 unit of gold every turn
- 1 unit of iron every turn
Strategy[]
Poland is the easiest nation to play with. Obviously justify on the
Czech Republic and
Slovakia immediately. For Slovakia, make your units go in a city and wait to minimize losses, then split and capture Slovakia. Use ALL your units to take Czech Republic out first.
Germany usually attacks them and you need to beat them to it and halt their expansion eastwards. You should divide your units once you have taken out the Czech Republic's army to ensure you take all cities quickly, as they are quite small. You also have to attack Slovakia, which should be pretty straightforward given its size. But be quick, for the German and
Russian players are a constant threat. Try to join a faction or get strong allies if they are not friendly to you.
The Czech is a nice nation to form it too, as it gives more stability. If you take out Slovakia first, you will be able to form Czechoslovakia, and if you take Poland and form Zapadoslavia, it adds twice the stability that Poland would for almost no cost.
Trivia[]
- Notable works of fiction that include Zapadoslavia are Frencoverse[1], an alternate history NationStates roleplaying group, Fuhrerreich [2], a spin-off mod of the popular Kaiserreich mod series for the strategy game Hearts of Iron 4 (HOI4), and Thousand Week Reich, an alternate history timeline created by AP246 for the subreddit r/imaginarymaps [3].
- Zapadoslavia (also spelt Zapodslavia) means "Land of the West Slavs", similarly to
Yugoslavia, which means "Land of the South Slavs".[1][2]
